Sheffield is packed with restaurants, but one you won’t want to miss out on is the new Zizzi establishment in the newly built Leopold Square area. This spot was one the site of a school, and the stunning architecture is still present when you walk through. It’s one of Sheffield’s newest dining hotspots, and is minutes away from huge public transport links as well as Sheffield Hallam’s city campus, the beautiful Peace Gardens and Sheffield Cathedral. So, it doesn’t matter whether you’re just visiting Sheffield or need a new favourite dining spot, Zizzi should be high on your list of places to try.
You’ll be able to spot the scenic al fresco dining area straight away, as it’s near the bubbling fountain in the centre of Leopold Square. The purple awnings contrast with the stylish black and cream colours scheme, making it really stand out in the crowd. The interior is similarly modern and striking, with a fun graphic feature wall of snooker players looming, gigantic, over the Sheffield skyline. The bright bubble lamps give another pop of colour the this bright interior. All Zizzi restaurants are given carefully considered bespoke designs, and this one certainly fits with the trendy and vibrant side of Sheffield that it finds itself in.
You won’t be disappointed b the menu here, which offers all the traditional Italian dishes with new, exciting combinations of Mediterranean flavours and techniques with new ideas and quirky presentation. Try the bestselling Italian bread bucket to start – fresh focaccia bread and dough sticks served straight from the oven with olive oil and rosemary. For a main, there’s so many to choose from but we recommend the pan-fried salmon with broccoli served with a new potato salad with roasted tomatoes, olives, capers and rocket. Don’t forget to try the excellent Kitty’s gelato to finish, or go for one of the many fun and tasty desserts – we’re torn between the timeless espresso affogato and the innovative chocolate and strawberry pizza.
