We say…
The Whye Melville is located right in the centre of the chocolate-box village of Boughton, next to the church. This traditional British pub and restaurant is famed locally, but is also easily accessed from elsewhere, as it’s just north of Northampton along the A508, so whether you live close by or want to explore the Northamptonshire countryside, you’ll love visiting this pub.
The feeling of a welcoming space is immediately achieved upon entering the premises, as the team work hard to make the pub look and feel like home. An old-fashioned wooden bar takes centre stage, and you’ll love the ample opportunity for privacy as the tables can be tucked away around the quirky interior. Sink into one of the plush seats or enjoy sitting al fresco in the pretty beer garden.
You can enjoy eating lunch, dinner, or even a full Sunday lunch at this restaurant, where everything is made fresh to order. The menu is handily split into smaller and larger, so, while the tendency is to start with small and have a large dish for your main, you can do whatever you feel like. To start with, we love the grilled Baltic loaf with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, Maldon salt and hummus, or you can go for the luxurious sharing board for two, complete with prosciutto ham, chorizo, pate, hummus, stuffed olive and pitta breads. For your larger main meal, try the traditional dish of bangers and mash elevated to tasty new heights with Lincolnshire sausages, creamy herb mash and red onion gravy. If you fancy something different, we recommend the smoked salmon and king prawn tagliatelle with a rocket and parmesan salad. For a vegetarian main dish, try the tasty mushroom and stilton burger served with relish, tomatoes and gherkins and accompanied by fluffy, golden chips and a garden salad.
If you want comforting, British food in a restaurant which pays homage to traditional pub food, then go no further than the Whyte Melville in Boughton.
