Service as always was excellent. I didn't have to wait too long for food. Mini desserts could be a little larger!

Great food, staff always charming, polite, friendly and always available if you need anything. Have been lots of times and it never disappoints.

We had to complain as our meal was awful. Had rack of lamb which was undercooked and extremely fatty. Cheeseboard came with 7 cheeses and 4 biscuits. The service was not good. Been here several times before and always been excellent. They had a wedding and 60th birthday that day so might have contributed to the poor service. Embarrassing as we took friends who were staying with us.

A real find. Absolutely amazing, Food delicious! staff friendly! Live music wonderful!

Enjoyed our meal in an interesting setting. Would have liked just a little more choice for main meals. Delicious food and good service.

    Great Sunday lunch

My wife and I went for Sunday lunch, we were given a reserved seat in a nice seat in a quiet cosy area. Roasts were of good, fresh quality and delicious as usual, it's not our first time here, nor will it be the last! My wife is a small eater and the small portion option is just perfect for her, nevertheless we were really stuffed, it was certainly good value for the portion and quality, you get what you pay for.

Excellent food and service, we really enjoyed our meals here.
We only had the main course, my wife had the fish which she said was cooked to perfection, I went for the roast beef which also was cooked to perfection.
Unfortunately we did not have any room to try to puddings.

Once again a wonderful Sunday dinner the beef was cooked to perfection, and the gravy is so yum.
The waitress was charming and polite.
The only downside was a table behind us who just to talk/shout loudly, we were not the only ones to give them a black look.

If I could give 6 stars for service, in particular, I would - kind, patient and obliging, really made to feel at ease.
Nicely balanced menu, just a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Had Sunday lunch, another good meal here, secret? Fresh ingredients.. you get what you pay for... definitely recommended!

We arrived for lunch, we were promptly served, and enjoyed our meals here, food arrived within 15 minutes of us ordering, we only had mains: I had fish and chips, I requested for my triple cooked chips to be replaced with sweet potatoes chips which were lovely, my fish was cooked perfectly - not over or undercooked and tasted fresh, which is important for me.. the gammon was the thickest cut we had ever seen not too salty.. and very tasty, crushed peas was a surprise which went well with the dish.. well presented, and arrived hot and fresh... will definitely recommend, as long as food comes as it was delivered fresh and good ingredients, it would be justifiable for the cost of the meals which to some may say a tad expensive.

Food was great very polite and friendly service I would definitely recommend.

Lovely evening with a special Valentine's day 3 course set menu which included a drink at the start as well as coffee and chocolates to finish. Good service which wasn't intrusive and delicious and interesting food.

We arrived for Sunday lunch at one o'clock and were promptly sat at our table. We were warned that one of our meals (a vegetarian option) would take fifteen minutes to prepare, but we didn't mind as it gave us a chance to chat. All of the food was presented well and was delicious. There was only one criticism from my husband - not enough beef with his Sunday lunch.

Beautiful at the Walnut Tree Inn. Very warm welcome. Staff were lovely and attentive, but left you to enjoy your meal in peace. Nothing was too much trouble.
Overall a lovely meal and reasonably priced.
    Thank you

Great vibe on walking into The Walnut tree inn. Very helpful staff. Food was amazing!! Great menu and catered well for vegetarian and gluten intolerant members of my party. Would definitely visit again and recommend!!

Came here for our Christmas Day meal. Food was excellent, good portion size, Stefan our charming host as usual, service spot on.
    Thank you Walnut Tree

Sunday Dinner at The Walnut Tree was a very pleasant experience. The food & atmosphere was very good in a very relaxing Sunday afternoon visit. Special mention to our waiter/host - Stefan. He was without doubt the most courteous, polite & helpful waiter I have experienced in a very long time.

An excellent meal enjoyed by all of the party. A warm welcome and the waitress was most charming and efficient. One point - our party of 8 dines out every month and we are often disappointed at being unable to get a square or round table. An oblong table does not help free conversation, especially for the people ot either end. Thank you

Food was very good however a limited choice on the menu particularly the dessert. Service was OK we believed that the staff were waiting for a large birthday party to arrive as a little slow to start with. Having said this we enjoyed the meal and will book again at the Walnut Tree.

We arrived 10 mins early at 7:20pm and even though the table was empty we weren't allowed to sit at the table and were asked to wait in the bar and would be called.
Even though we were right at the entrance to the bar off the hall, the waitress struggled to find us having walked passed twice before asking if we were dining.
Service was very slow, 45 mins for the starters to arrive, further 30 mins for mains, and then 20 mins for coffee. The restaurant wasn't full, there were plenty of waiting staff but clearly there was a problem somewhere.
Food was generally good, except the rib eye steak which was very thin, very fatty (at least 1/3 of it) and therefore very overpriced at £22.
Overall unfortunately not the best experience.

We had our christmas meal here and it was an absolute pleasure! The food was divine, the service was wonderful and the staff were very accommodating. We were not rushed in the slightest and we got free bread at the beginning and coffee at the end! One note was made by our party and that was a wish there had been more gravy on the table for people, but other than that, absolutely brilliant, I would highly recommend for any occasion, not just Christmas.

Only just discovered this place despite driving on the M1 for over 40 years! Had a Sunday lunch here with family and was very pleased. Delicious food, no problem providing smaller plates for the children, bar was lively and the staff were very attentive. Will be making regular trips now we know it's there. Thank you!

Was shown to the table as soon as we arrived and were given a choice of some wonderful wines. Service was spot-on and friendly, enjoyed the pork loin thoroughly and my girlfriend said the burger she had was the best one to date! Well done on creating a lovely evening.

We say…

Travel ten minutes outside of Northampton town centre on the A43 towards Towcester and you will find a little village called Blisworth: home to The Walnut Tree. Built in 1850, this hotel was used to accommodate railway travellers on overnight stop overs. Today the Walnut Tree keeps its historic background alive but also features the modern amenities that the most discerning of travellers and diners are looking for.

The restaurant is a beautiful space, light and airy by day and cosy and intimate by night. Heavy wooden tables and high-backed chairs compliment the homely dining room perfectly. The dining space is incredibly flexible, allowing it to be hired exclusively or split in two with up to 30 covers in each space. There is also an additional lounge that is packed with comfortable sofas and a fireplace embedded in the exposed brickwork.

The Walnut Tree’s menu changes with each season, offering diners a superb selection of dishes featuring in-season produce, prepared in imaginative ways. The menu showcases traditional cooking methods and the chef uses only the freshest, locally sourced produce to create memorable dishes that can be enjoyed at any time of the day. Start with the salted halibut with a spring cassoulet, Toulouse sausage and a chicken reduction. For mains, the seared wood pigeon with pressed potato, cavolo nero, heritage carrots, sweet pickled cherries and a port wine jus is a favourite. There are also loads of pub classic on offer, including the beer battered cod loin with triple cooked chips. Don't miss out on dessert: the roasted banana soufflé with salted caramel ice cream is just one of the menu's many treats.

As well as showing off their talent, the chefs are also considerate, restricting the use of flour in sauces in preference of potato starch where possible, to allow those on gluten-free diets to have a wider choice of options.

The Walnut Tree is a must-visit if you want to enjoy delicious food and countryside views; it's the perfect afternoon or evening escape.
