The food was lovely, the service was great. We had two people with gluten and dairy issues me being one of them. The staff couldn’t do enough. I knew they did cater for us but I didn’t put it on the booking. They said if we book again to make sure we say then they will do more to accommodate us mostly regarding desserts.

Food and service were up to the usual high standard. We did, however, notice that prices for lunch have been creeping up over the past few months and certainly above the current level of inflation.

Excellent. Both food and service. Thank you for a lovely evening.

The food was lovely, well presented and value for money. The staff were great and made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I will definitely eat here again.

All three of us enjoyed our meals, well cooked and well presented, we had a very pleasant and helpful waitress. Paid rather more than I usually would for a weekday lunch.

Lovely atmosphere good food and service

We say…

Indulge in flavoursome British creations at gastropub The Waggon at Halam, in Nottinghamshire.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the rural location offers a cosmopolitan dining experience in a small country pub just 2 miles from the historic Minster town of Southwell.

The Waggon at Halam is suitable for all occasions from family dinners to lunch with friends, the inviting parlour (dining room) will be sure to facilitate a great time with glorious British food.

Low ceilings, wooden beams and open red-brick walls make for a delightful interior. Everything about the design creates an atmosphere of Britishness. In addition, if ‘al-fresco’ dining is your thing, take advantage of the sunshine from the outside space offered in The Waggon at Halam.

With such a range of dishes made with care from high-quality ingredients, it is no wonder they became runners up in ‘Twaites Best Newcomer Pub 2017’.

Using raw ingredients, chefs are happy to cook according to dietary requirements, but the pub’s popularity means be sure to book before arriving, especially during events.

The Waggon at Halam is a warm, welcoming treat in the heart of the beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside. Despite being rural, the pub is easily accessible from Newark and surrounding areas, and with the quality meals being served the journey is certainly worth it.
