We received a warm welcome and was escorted to our table and given a red rose as it was Valentine's evening. The restaurant was decorated very tastefully with balloons at the entrance and then on each table. Our waiter was Callum. He was very pleasant and went through the set menu. The courses were served with just the right amount of time between them. We were never rushed or neglected.
Excellent evening. -

Can honestly say best curry experience I've ever had and I've had a few over the years, from the moment we entered the staff were not just welcoming but so attentive but in a very easy laid back way which was lovely as we felt like we were with family more than just a customer . Deffo be our restaurant of choice from now on. If we could give it 10 Stars we would of.
Thank you again for such a fantastic experience. -

Lovely meal, booking service worked well.
Food was tasty and efficiently served.
Got busy towards the end of the meal as a lot of customer’s waiting for tables, they should have booked online!
We waited a while to get our bill.
But overall an excellent meal & a good time had by us all.
Till next time! -

As always, the food and service here was great. We got a booth even though there were only two of us which made for a more intimate meal. Menu selection has some more unusual dishes. The staff are always friendly and cheerful even though they are always busy. It's expensive for an Indian restaurant, but the food is definitely a cut above average.

Sadly the village of Duffield, which once held two Indian restaurants, now only has one, The Viceroy. Thus it was that having patronised the "other" restaurant prior to its closure, I was obliged to trial "The Viceroy." Having earlier phoned to make a reservation, I and my wife were given a warm greeting on arrival and given a table. From then on, things seemed to unfold rather randomly. We were visited by at least three different waiters during the course of our meal; some of whom forgot what we had asked of them causing us to repeat our request to one of the various other waiters that randomly passed our table. Despite a sparsely populated restaurant (we had an early booking) service was slow. The ambiance is good but prices are at the top end by comparison with other Indian restaurants in the Derby area. In summary, this venue has the makings of a good restaurant but given the prices, they are charging table service needs to be tightened up together with table reservation.

The ambiance and food were good at the Viceroy. The Chicken Tikka Starter was good, as for the main course, the Lamb Tikka Masala was very bland
and fairly tasteless. Also compared to other Indian restaurants in the Derby area I found it very expensive for a mid week, and not good value for money. -

First class food thank you and very good service

First class food, but very slow service! Drinks after 15 mins, starter after 40 mins, main came after 1 hour and 10 mins. Lots of service staff maybe needs more cooks.

The food was all delicious except one dish which was not for the faint hearted. The staff subtly said that one of the meals ordered would be very spicy and they were right, so take heed of advice given!

We say…
The Viceroy Indian restaurant in Duffield, Derbyshire, is the first of several Viceroy branches that have opened after the initial success of the Duffield restaurant. Situated on Tamworth Street, just off the Town Street, the A6, it is under five minutes’ walk from Duffield rail station, it is ideally located for locals and visitors alike.
The Viceroy Duffield is a magnificent Indian restaurant that is beautifully decorated with opulent touches that creates a truly special dining experience. The interior design is hinted at from outside, which features fountains, a small al fresco area that would be perfect for enjoying a cold beer in the summer, and a red carpet running the length of the marble effect entrance immediately makes guests feel special and looked after. Inside the opulence continues with soft lighting and oversized gold ornaments. The dining room itself is vast and has a feature wall with a built in waterfall lit using LED lights. The effect is stunning and you know you will be well-looked after.
The menu is vast and varied, offering well-known popular classics as well as a good selection of unique speciality dishes. The Viceroy prides itself on its home cooked Desi dishes that could not be recommended highly enough. All of the food is infused with only the finest herbs and spice and the Desi Macliali; chunks of cod fillet cooked with wonderfully aromatic spices and herbs including fresh ginger, garlic, chopped onions, tomatoes and coriander, is one of the most popular dishes. If you can’t decide, knowledgeable and attentive staff are on hand to offer advice whilst making you feel like you are the only people in the restaurant.
With years of experience and expert knowledge of Indian cuisine, Sajid the owner is a passionate and learned host and it is easy to see why The Viceroy is expanding rapidly. Stunning venues, delicious food and exquisite service makes The Viceroy the only Indian restaurant you need to visit.
