Can’t fault The Star Inn, the food was fantastic, service was good very relaxing great menu will I go again most definitely as lots more nice dishes I’ve like to try next time. Thank Q for a very nice birthday dinner for my partner and I, happy days

Staff appeared unsure of what they were doing at times not very friendly.

I booked a large joint birthday party for my mums 80th and my husbands 50th birthdays.
We had 22 guests, 2 of which weren’t eating, 2 of which wanted special requirements 2 of which were children
We brought cake and a lot of balloons for our special occasions to the Star Inn.
On arrival we took our seats, we were looked after extremely well from start to finish.
The food was well presented and tasted superb
The staff were amazing -nothing was too much trouble!
The whole experience was as we wanted -a fabulous night to remember for all of us. A massive thank-you to the Star Inn and the team!

The roast beef was beautiful. We had a choice of pink or well done. Service was very good but a bit over attentive, we had to ask several times to have a rest between courses.

A most enjoyable birthday meal, the food was excellent and a very warm welcome from the staff made us feel at home from the start. We will book again for sure

Lovely evening in a gorgeous country pub!

A second visit and certainly wasn’t disappointed. Food was excellent staff very pleasant and lovely buzzing atmosphere. Would certainly recommend to others.

Food was delicious but service behind the bar was poor with my friend being ignored whilst the staff chatted to each other. Good atmosphere and lovely pub but staff training is badly needed.

not up to standard of previous visits

Delicious food, excellent service! Thank you!

Very good Christmas Meal. Staff were friendly and attentive

First visit certainly won’t be the last. Loved the feel of the restaurant, staff were very pleasant. Food was excellent and very well presented. Can’t wait to come back. For a Thursday was very busy and can certainly see why.

    Excellent food and service

Visit this pub for lunch at least 6 times a year, mainly for a snack, i.e sandwiches but these are lovely. Only criticism if I had to make one is that in the winter months it is not very warm especially under the glass roof.

Excellent re-visit. Fantastic fillet. Thoroughly enjoyed.

This is one of my fav haunts...can get busy from weds through the week and by the weekend is heaving but I think well worth the gastronomic and wine/beer ride!

This is one of my favourite haunts... Can get busy from Wednesday on wards throughout the week. By the weekend it is heaving but I think it is still well worth the gastronomic and wine/beer ride!

Had a great 10oz fillet steak with everything. Plesently stuffed.
    A really good meal!

Very professional organisation at The Star Inn.

Food as always was delicious but unusually restaurant was very quiet and service left something to be desired. After finishing our main courses we had to skip a sweet or coffee as no one came to serve us which was surprising given how few diners there were. I assume it was simply a bad day but not up to the isual standard.

    Food consistent again.

    Very good food!

Three ladies lunched at the Star Inn 1744 - two had the liver and bacon with creamed potatoes and green beans - both good but it could do with being quite crisp streaky bacon for me. The other lady had the fish pie which looked really nice except that it had not had the final blast under the grill to brown the top.
Two puds- plum crumble and custard and ice cream with chocolate sauce .
Generally it is a good menu and does not try to be too pretentious. Yes, would go again.

The Star Inn 1744 is an excellent venue for lunch. Food was very good, as was the service. Great choice of beers and nice atmosphere. Two of us had very tasty liver and the third had the fish and chips off a menu that offered a great choice ranging from soup and sandwiches to main meals!

Star Inn was recommended, since our first visit my husband & I have taken various family. Friendly staff, excellent food and good value for money. We couldn't ask for any more!

We had an excellent lunch at The Star Inn 1744, having found it difficult to choose from such a wide range of dishes. The staff were very pleasant and our drinks orders (for a party of eight) were brought promptly, as was the meal for the one member of our party who arrived late. We would certainly return for lunch here.

Excellent meal. Visiting family from Newcastle. Will definitely go back

Again the food was first class with a lovely sea bass special as well as the good value steak night. Lovely choice of sweets. Really comfortable pub with good choice of beers and friendly service.

Food first class as always. Really enjoyable pub/restaurant. Service was slower than normal but very friendly.

The Star Inn is a very nice little place, great food and friendly staff. Now well recommended! :)

Very good and the experience was enjoyed by all four of us and we are not easy to please! We will certainly return to the Inn.

Excellent food, lovely restaurant and beautiful location.

Lovely food in a vibrant upmarket pub. Lovely dining area that borders the pub area which ensures you retain the pub atmosphere when dining. Food fantastic if a little pricey. Will definately visit again.

Dropped in on our way to Nottingham and just wish we lived closer! Such a lovely pub restaurant. The food was delightful, I had the battered cod which was lovely, crispy and light and served with a good side of chunky chips and mushy peas, whilst my husband had the beef fillet. He really enjoyed it and it was cooked rare perfectly. His only complaint was that there wasn't a bigger steak he could have gone for. Delicious and we will be frequenting this place every time we go to Nottingham. Our little travelling treat.

Had a really good meal - definitely going back soon.

We say…

The Star Inn 1744 sits proudly on the corner of The Green in Thrussington, Leicester. It offers residents and visitors alike a completely unique experience, offering delicious gastro food as well as a place to sit and enjoy one of their delicious speciality coffees and cakes throughout the day. It is the multi-purpose venue that Thrussington has been crying out for for so long. It is a large establishment that has been feeding and watering guests for over 250 years since its construction in 1744. It’s convenient location just off ‘Old Fosse Way’, or the A46, just a twenty minute drive North of Leicester city centre means that the venue is easily accessible for those on their way to or from Nottingham, Newark and Lincoln.

Open seven days a week, serving tea, coffee and nibbles from 8am onwards, this venue is ideal for a quick morning coffee, a hearty lunch or relaxing evening meal. The Star Inn manages to combine rustic and contemporary design in such a way that the atmosphere of the venue goes far beyond that of a local village pub. The weathered beams, clean cream walls and polished wooden floors create a relaxing environment that is welcoming and a delight to be in, whether you are celebrating a special occasion, dropping in for a quick drink or a light bite to eat. The restaurant has also now opened their takeaway fish and chips service which is becoming very popular.

Diners are treated to a modern British menu that also frequently features dishes from other cuisines. You can expect to find dishes such as Lemon battered fillet of Cod served with chunky chips and homemade mushy peas; 10oz ribeye cooked to your liking, and Moroccan Lamb Tagine a giant cous cous dish flavoured with fruit, nuts and spices. Lunch time diners can choose from a good selection of light lunches including Scampi and chips, local hand-linked sausages with creamy mash and onion gravy and soup served with crusty bread.

The Star Inn 1744 also host regular feature nights including Lobster evenings and Cheese and Wine events. This venue is perfect for enjoying the company of your friends and family; eat, drink and be merry!
