The Railway is an award-winning gastropub located in the charming village of Lowdham, Nottinghamshire. Situated just 100 metres down the road from the train station from which it takes its name, The Railway has become a foodie destination, as well as a great spot to catch up with friends and family and enjoy a delicious meal, whatever the occasion.
Refurbished in 2017, The Railway has been beautifully decorated to create a rustic interior that combines traditional pub features with contemporary sophistication. Touches of railway memorabilia give a nod towards the tasteful theme of the pub, whilst the spacious outdoor dining area with seating for 70 offers a sun trap in which to pass the time during the warmer months. The Railway has already been voted winner of the Nottingham Best Restaurant and Bar award 2017, and it's easy to see why!
The menu at The Railway is a gourmet take on pub fare. Start your meal with the likes of the Cheese on Toast, with Brie de Meaux on chargrilled sourdough with pickled mushrooms, or the Pressed Chicken Terrine with gem lettuce, crispy anchovies and Serrano ham. Move on to the Creedy Calver Duck Leg with parmesan gnocchi and purple sprouting broccoli, or a classic Railway Burger with smoked bacon and mature cheddar. The desserts are to die for, and include Lemon and Passionfruit Tart and Baked Apples in Filo Pastry with tea-soaked raisins and black treacle ice cream.
The kitchen also offers a set lunch and early dinner menu, with 2 courses for £14.50 or 3 courses for £17.00, as well as sandwiches by way of lighter meals. The Sunday menu boasts delicious roast dinners, as well as hearty classic pub starters, mains and desserts. And not to forget the fantastic, award-winning children's menu that is both healthy and tasty!
