    Excellent as usual.

Food exceeded our expectations. The service was slow.

A lovely pub set in a very quiet little village. I have been here three times and have never been disappointed with the food and drink.
The waiting staff really worked very hard, as it was a busy Sunday lunchtime. Hence my 5* review. A thing to note, the pub has a to let sign outside, so maybe a change of ownership coming. Worth checking out prior to booking as my review is based on current ownership.

Sandwiches only offered with brown bread. It would have been good to have a choice. Ploughman’s very small and poor value at £8.95.

Good company and good food. What else could you want?

Friendly attentive service, excellent wine. Fish pie very good perhaps too salmon heavy for my taste and dessert was spoilt by being too complicated by competing flavours, simpler would have been better.

We went on Sunday 1st December and had a mixed experience. It was a cold day and there was little heat in the dining room. We were told there was a problem with the central heating.
We ordered a G&T when we arrived. It was served somewhat unimaginatively in a tumbler (not the goblet glasses you often get now)
But the roast was good and the food represented very good value.

    Excellent food and service.

What a brilliant place to eat. I recently went there for my wife's 50th birthday. The service, the meal, the location, and the staff are brilliant. It is a little pricey, but to be honest it is worth paying a little more for quality.

Everything from start to finish was excellent.

Slightly disappointed with the welcome. It wasn't as slick as I have had before. Fight to the bar, had to find the staff to secure the table that wasn't immediately confirmed. Slow service but very pleasant. The dinner was exceptional however.

    Excellent all round.

Lovely pub with a cozy ambiance. The staff were friendly and the food was excellent. I’d certainly recommend this pub.

We have been going to the pheasant for over 40 years and it never disappoints.

Lovely setting, very attentive staff and great food. Very accommodating with special dietary needs.

    Excellent food and service.
Very nice dining room and made to feel valued as a customer. Will probably book for boxing day if open.

    Food was excellent as usual.

Two of us had twice-baked souffle which was tepid and the portions very small. The twice-cooked fries were a crisp shell with very little inside. Six of us have been meeting at The Pheasant for once or twice a year for 7 years and in our opinion value has gradually diminished.

Great food, we had a lovely evening.

Service was slow with a few mistakes but, I think that was purely down to it being Mothering Sunday.
I would definitely go back! Our booking was easy and we had no issues.

The meal. It’s service and value for money was excellent. I would highly recommend this pub and it’s restaurant to anyone wishing to enjoy quality food and service at reasonable prices in a warm and friendly setting.

Attractive pub but too dark inside and really quite difficult to read the menus. There were 4 of us and we all said the same, too many different ingredients on the plate. All the food was very tasty and anything that was left on the plate was just because we were full up. All the staff were pretty good although we did need to ask several times at the table when we wanted more drinks. This area has several very accomplished food pubs/pub restaurants and it seemed to the 4 of us that there are at least 3 others locally which are offering more contemporary
innovative dishes. The other thing that struck us was that by 10.00 there were only 2 other tables occupied (on a Saturday evening)

Lovely meal as usual and great service as usual!

We have eaten here many times - several birthday parties, our own wedding celebrations, lunch and dinner for 2 to people. The excellent food, attentive service and very good value (£50 p.h. last night, February 9th 2019, including pre-dinner drinks and a bottle of wine) make it one of the outstanding place to eat in the area.

Truly wonderful evening. Never disappointed food is fab and the staff are brilliant.

My partner and I were greeted very warmly by the gentleman behind the bar, we lingered there whilst enjoying our drinks perusing a choice of a la carte or, as it was Thursday, we had a choice of a grill menu which was two courses for £15.95, which we decided on but opted for a shared starter of prawns in batter first which was so flavourable. We shared a delicious bottle of house wine over our main course but alas were too full for dessert. The restaurant was full and most tables in the bar area were busy with people eating or indeed just having a drink. The atmosphere was nice, very buzzy and I think we shall be returning very shortly to sample the a la carte menu. All in all five star treatment on all counts.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal out - the food was excellent.

Love The Pheasant, relaxed atmosphere, fantastic food, great service friendly staff. Always enjoy coming here.

A superb meal; even better than usual with the beef being perfectly cooked and I had to go back to indulge in the chocolate nemesis for the second time in a week. The perfect way to heal the winter blues. Thank you.

    Great Sunday Lunch!

Food was ok but service very poor. Lots of waiting staff were around, but they either ignored us or didn't know what was going on. This is a shame as the service has been faultless in the past.

We visit this restaurant quite regularly, and prefer the evening menu. My meal of pan-fried salmon was very nice, my friends tried partridge and were surprised that is was no better than chicken and not very easy to eat. Desserts were very good. One friend is vegetarian and whilst the choice was minimal, they were prepared to accommodate and make her what she would like. Impressed.

The meal was very good, but some food tasted like it was reheated ie roast potatoes... some felt the same about the pork

Wonderful service, the front of house staff remembered my mother from the previous visit several months ago. Made to feel v.welcome, food excellent and v.good lunch menu

The occasion was our 45th wedding anniversary. Our party of 9 enjoyed the usual standard of food, though one felt the Rosti with the Bruce was a bit greasy, otherwise enjoyed. The staff were very accommodating with grandchildren who were able to have food that suited them. We were treated to a decorated plate with truffle each for the parents who were celebrating. The food was delicious, served beautifully and the staff ever attentive. 5 stars again. Thank you for making a special day go so well.

This was our second visit in the last 3 weeks, the food and wine are fantastic as is the service, our waitress yesterday was really helpful and despite being busy gave really, really good service. Our friends who came with us loved the place, they had never been before.
    Good stuff

    Excellent meal. They never disappoint.

Lovely meal, and lovely location/atmosphere for family dining and romantic dining. Dairy free options were equally scrumptious. Dined there on a Sunday, which naturally meant more staff but generally younger and newer waiters who weren't quite as intuitive and attentive; we were left waiting for some time between courses and missing meals going unnoticed. Lovely wine, great kids menu too.

Great hidden-away pub with a warm welcome. The food was very good quality and served in a timely and friendly manner. A lovely spot to relax and while away a few hours.

We arrived and had to wait for a table as the previous sitting hadn't finished. We were greeted and directed to a table to sit and wait and buy a drink until our table was ready. The menu was quite limited, it was Sunday Lunchtime. They made an addition meal for a fussy eater. They actually went over and beyond to make our meal pleasant, the customer service was wonderful, but I have had better roasts, the beef was very thick and strong in flavour, the vegetables were rather bland, the Yorkshire pudding was good though. Home made ice cream sounded appealing, but it was too sweet. We eat out regularly but although we had a nice time there, we wouldn't return for a Sunday lunch.

Delicious food in a lovely space. Always a favourite.

Excellent meal and service. Lovely flavour combinations of both the courses I had. Atmosphere slightly spoilt be a large party but that was not the fault of the establishment.

Can’t fault the Pheasant, loads of people in but food and table were on time, food hot, delicious.

Very enjoyable meal to celebrate our daughters graduation. Thank you!

    Great food and setting!

Again you provided us with a good space for us to relax and talk. The choice and quality of food was excellent.

As a regular diner here again an excellent meal and service. Very enjoyable

First class meal at the Pheasant!

Very nice meal and good service.

A lovely meal - the staff were geeat and the food fabulous. Will be back again soon.

It was a shame the pub was empty.

Super, well prepared meals, enjoyed by each of us. Our guests were very impressed by all aspects of the lunch.

Our first visit to The Pheasant at Keystone was faultless. The food was absolutely delicious and the home made bread was to die for (in fact I took a loaf home with me). The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient - this will now be a regular venue for us.

The starters and the puddings were particularly good and the vegetables for the main course were beautifully cooked.

It was lovely to see the chef going out into the garden to pick fresh herbs whilst we were eating our lunch.

Very pleasant. We did not realise that it was steak night so we took advantage of this excellent offer! Steak was very well presented and service very good. Will def return and recommend.

Our visit was a special occasion. We were very impressed on all fronts. Will certainly call again at the Pheasant at Keyston and recommend!

Had a lovely window table at The Pheasant, staff very attentive, four clean plates!

The desserts seemed somewhat overpriced for what was on the plate. Specifically my Spotted Dick was rather meagre!

Great service, the food was well cooked although my pigeon breast was overdone.

Venison and fishcake at the Pheasant were very good, but disappointed with the crackling.

Excellent from start to finish at The Pheasant - service was exceptional and nothing seemed to much trouble 10 out of 10.

A truly lovely dining experience. The Pheasant at Keyston was very busy but the service was prompt and good. The food was hot and tasty. A very special place to take friends and family or to just eat out. A favourite of ours.

We say…

Nestled in a picturesque farming village, just 20 minutes east of Kettering, The Pheasant at Keyston creates a striking impression against the remote countryside. Easily accessible from the A14, this beautiful inn is enjoyed by visitors from across the region. Having won the award for Cambridgeshire Dining Pub of the Year 2016 it is a popular choice for dining out.

John Hoskins, whose family have been involved with The Pheasant since 1964, recently regained ownership and restored the building back to its roots, opting for more traditional décor. Complete with original oak beams, traditional wooden furnishings, and plenty of natural light coming through the large panelled windows, the dining room embodies the spirit of the country. For parties looking for a little privacy, the Long Room can be hired out for up to 18 people: perfect for corporate events, business lunches and more.

After dinner, guests can choose to unwind in front of one of the large open fires in the bar area, or retreat to the elegant patio garden on a hot summers’ day. The Garden Room can seat up to 36 people and is also available for private hire for weddings, birthday parties and more.

Experienced Chef Simon Cadge is the proud master behind the menu, while his partner Gerda leads the front of house. Simon learned the art of cooking at the Old Bridge at Huntingdon, and now applies his knowledge to the Pheasant’s kitchen by creating a classic British menu full of flavour and tradition. You can expect to enjoy dishes such as pan-fried mullet fillets with new potatoes, celery, apply, samphire, brown shrimps and lemon mint; free-range Huntsham farm pork belly and cheek with potato rosti, sugar snaps, fennel, apple purée, black pudding and sage; and char-grilled scotch beef with crispy veal sweetbread, fondant potato, braised savoy cabbage, wild mushroom duxelle and foie gras sauce. The menus are updated daily to offer diners the freshest ingredients and flavours.

The Pheasant at Keyston is an extraordinary venue with a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious menus and charming surroundings. It's the ideal place to enjoy a family dinner, Sunday lunch or romantic dinner date.
