    Loved it!! Great staff.

Went for Sunday Lunch, really good food, nice atmosphere and really good value!

Very good experience overall - tasty food, served quickly in a nice setting. The only very minor downside (more for other diners than me because I liked the music!) was that the music didn't seem to suit the venue or, more especially, the clientele. We commented on it because my wife owns a restaurant and would have changed the music but it's only a minor point and didn't detract for us from a very good experience

The food was absolutely delicious and with some interesting ideas. It would have been 5 stars but one of my companions' steak was overcooked. The place is nicely laid out with a bit of an edge to it. Staff were really helpful too.

Great staff, fab food at the Palfrey. Adam and Jess were amazing and added to the whole experience. Adam knew his cocktails and Jess knew the menu. Both are a credit to the restaurant.

Menu choice limited with several items unavailable

Great friendly staff, good priced drinks and the food was excellent would definitely go again

Very nice food again at The Palfrey. Good service too.

Yes, it was a great meal. We will definitely tell others to go!

    Excellent meal!

Terrific meal, friendly service and a nice location!

Last night was the first time at the palfrey. Had a great time the food was delicious, certainly will go back!

Really great Mother's day meal. The roast beef was very tasty and the vegetable were fresh and good. Felt a tiny bit cramped in the upstairs part of the restaurant, but the staff were really on it, so you felt like you didn't have to worry too much. Super cute touch to give the Mum's a little present.

Mother's day lunch. Lovely surroundings and excellent, quick service. Very nice food with ample servings. A gift for mums at the end which was a lovely touch! Highly recommend!

Lovely meal and pleasant staff at The Palfrey.

Very tasty meal at The Palfrey in pleasant surroundings.

Lovely meal and very pleasant staff at the Palfrey.

Three of us had the Early Bird deal of 2 courses for £14.95 each as we were going to the Guildhall for the 7.30pm performance. The service, food & wine were all excellent. For starters 2 of us had cream of mushroom soup which was very tasty & comes with plenty of bread. The mains of steak, duck & chicken were cooked to perfection. It's always a sign that the chef knows what his doing when they are good at cooking steak & duck. Nice to have a good Pre-Theatre option closer to Derby's Theatre. Will definitely be back at this restaurant in the future!

Excellent food, attentive service, very friendly and welcoming!

Lovely food, really nice place to eat!

Excellent food at the Palfrey, really top notch. With the pre-theatre really good value for money.

We say…

Situated in the secluded Old Blacksmith's Yard just off the trendy Sadler Gate road in Derby, The Palfrey is an amazing new British restaurant with a range of delicious British and  European dishes. As you exit the small alleyway it opens up to lovely cobbled courtyard and a gorgeous part of Derby's history. Located right in the centre of Derby's trendy Cathedral Quarter, The Palfrey is located right in the heart of a number of amazing artisan shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Only a 5 minute walk from Derby Cathedral and 10 minutes away from the bus station access is excellent for tourists and locals alike!

Once inside, the venue uses a mixture of leather backed furniture and exposed brickwork to create a modern yet comfortable dining setting. Although minimalist, the restaurant does not feel cluttered and therefore more comfortable. However, this then allows the food to do the talking, and we can assure you, you will want to hear what is being said! To start we recommend the delicious Belly Pork and Black Pudding Terrine served with apple, bacon and sourdough. For the vegetarians among us the Wild Mushroom, Spinach and Garlic Fricassee is a definite favourite served with duck egg, brioche and truffle! Then for the main event we recommend the beautiful Butter Roasted Atlantic Cod with Tuscan bean and Nduja sausuage, charred greens, new potatoes and capers. As well as the A La Carte menu The Palfrey also serves a number of delicious small 'Casual Bites' which are always worth a try, including Danny's Pork Belly Scratching's, Crispy Curly Kale with Chili and Spicy Seasame Falafel Balls, Gouchang Mayo.

Although only a relatively new venue to Derby's dining scene, The Palfrey is already well on it's way to becoming a Derby favourite! With an impressive fully stocked bar this venue is perfect for couples looking for an excellent dinner and drinks to follow. With a rather impressive Sunday Lunch menu available, it is also perfect for family a weekend family gathering. Whatever the occasion you certainly need no excuse to give this great new venue a try!
