Food was good, service pretty good. I think the views are meant to be stunning but as we were there at night they didn't have any impact on the ambience.

A bit out of the way but I have never been to a restaurant with such an amazing backdrop.

We say…

Peak District award-winner within The Losehill House and Spa.

The Times listed The Orangery as one of their ’20 best wild places to eat in Britain’. Intrigued? Luckily, it’s not in reference to any raucous goings-on in this fine dining establishment but to the unparalleled backdrop of the Peaks, visible through three sides of the restaurant, immersing the diner in the outstanding countryside.

The importance of location extends to the way in which they source their ingredients. Owners Paul and Kathryn Roden ensure their meat is sourced responsibly from the surrounding areas of Tissington, Bakewell and Ashbourne. They are completely free range, with high-held ethical standards, easier to manage due to their established relationship with almost every one of their suppliers.

The A La Carte menu is constantly changing in accordance with the ingredients they have available at any one time. The sample menu details the Derbyshire lamb with mini shepherd’s pie, crispy shoulder, carrot puree and ‘cauliflower cheese’ (yes, the inverted commas are included in the menu) which mixes the traditional with experimental elements. In fact, this is how the entire menu operates: classic flavours with a twist, to sample while surrounded by some of the most stunning countryside in the UK. Additionally, there is a 7-course taster menu, spa lunches and afternoon tea on offer.

Located within a 4* hotel in Hope Valley, The Orangery is an ideal location for a celebration or special occasion, to stare out at the hills and just muse over how wonderful everything is. Book your table today.
