We have been to the Little John a few times and generally have had a nice experience, however on this occasion the whole experience was spoilt by poor service. After ordering our drinks they had still not arrived after 15 minutes. The main meal took 45 minutes to arrive and that was after we had asked twice how long it was going to take for it. Once we got the food it was very tasty and well presented. We did tell the waitress about our displeasure and we got an apology. If the restaurant had been busy we could have understood the slow service but it wasn't.

We had a nice meal at the Little John. The food was OK, my chips were tasty but a little soggy.
It was a Sunday lunchtime so was quite busy but not full, I felt the service was a little slow. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The restaurant has interesting decor which makes it unique.
Would go again but I would not go on a Sunday.

We say…

Ideally placed on the edge of rural Ravenshead in Nottinghamshire The Little John is a spot of glamour and luxury packaged into a cosy country pub. Standing in grounds on Main Street this restaurant pub is great for locals to walk to, while offering ample parking to those willing to make the journey as well as a direct route from Mansfield to The Little John’s front door on the 141 buses.

The interior offers all the beauty of a traditional British pub, a cosy open fire, big leather seating areas and private nooks to enjoy drinks and chat the night away. Away from the bar the setting delivers some opulence in the dining areas with velvet seating and mirrored tables along with many more fireplaces to enjoy throughout. In the day’s natural light graces the surroundings but at night the ambience is set with soft mood lighting throughout the whole pub.

There is a type of food for everyone’s taste at The Little John, the menu comprises British, Italian, American and Tex Mex options while maintaining the old pub favourites. If you were feeling indulgent you could enjoy a delicious fillet steak followed by a mouth-watering sea salt caramel and roasted almond cheesecake. If you’re just in the mood for a lighter bite why not sample one of the pasta dishes? If drinks are what you’re looking for, enjoy them alongside one of the tempting ‘grazers’.

Something else that sets this venue apart from the rest is the regular hosting of entertainment, from local favourite Campbell Bass singing some smooth soul to themed balls and other singers delivering Jazz, Swing and even Country.

The Little John is a unique local where you can enjoy an evening for almost any occasion, get dressed up and enjoy some delicious food while taking in the vibrant atmosphere or pop in for a drink or two in the relaxing bar.
