We say…

Situated within an old brewery, The Ketch is now a beautiful country pub in the stunning Derbyshire Peak District village of Kniveton, just 3 miles north-east of the town of Ashbourne. The village boasts a wealth of scenic walks within close proximity to the pub inculding a circular route that begins and ends at The Ketch. The restaurant offers plenty of parking space and welcomes walkers, families and well behaved dogs.

The Ketch was taken over in July 2013 by a local family business with the aim of restoring the pub’s good reputation and offering local ales, complimented by delicious food made with local ingredients. But above all, the business pursued a friendly atmosphere that would draw in diners time and time again. The pub welcomes everyone, from drinkers to diners and families who can enjoy the warm bar area, inviting dining room and the two cosy beer gardens which are perfect for summer evenings.

The interior of The Ketch is just how a rural pub should be; warm, cosy and comfortable. The dining and bar areas are situated under a low ceiling supported by traditional wooden beams, while the windows are lined with tranquil lighting. The restaurant also boasts a mesmerizing log burner to warm up cold walkers and children in the winter months. An impeccable finish is seen throughout adding a touch of sophistication to the traditional features.

The Ketch holds special offers throughout the week, including steak night on a Friday and a hearty Sunday Roast at the weekend, as well as a range of classic dishes all freshly prepared and home-cooked in the week. The restaurant tries relentlessly to ensure that its food and drink is locally sourced, for example by using a local butcher who practices traditional methods. All of the beef that The Ketch serves is British and mainly reared in Derbyshire or Yorkshire, while the restaurant also endeavours to help local micro-breweries with their cask ales. The Ketch also focusses on ‘proper’ coffee made with Fairtrade beans, freshly ground to order and served with freshly steamed milk.

The Ketch at Kniveton is a lovely village pub at the heart of the Derbyshire countryside. It offers real, local ales and delicious traditional meals, at very fair prices. The pub is perfect for walkers wanting a bite to eat or families seeking a relaxed setting in which to enjoy scrumptious local food.
