Situated on Friar Gate and 'The Derby Mile', which was once a famous local pub crawl leading into the city centre, The Greyhound offers both the homely feel of a traditional pub, but also modern demeanor since its extensive renovations. Located just a 15 minute walk from the Intu Derby Shopping Centre, The Greyhound is well worth the detour to sample the quality British classics, but also an exotic range of Mexican dishes too.
The fusion of both contemporary and classic is reflected in the pub's interior, as the grade 2 listed pub had a renovation in 2013 and launched an upstairs function room. Since then, the self proclaimed 'Dead Good Function Room' has proved to be the ideal venue for private parties, with features such as its own private bar and access onto the roof terrace. The roof terrace is ideal for making the most of the British summer days and is the perfect spot for enjoying the homemade food The Greyhound offers. The interior still contains many of the original features such as the oak beams and an original fireplace with modern twists, such as a new European oak bar and bi-folding doors looking out into their walled garden and roof terrace.
All their food is fresh, homemade and locally sourced, which ensures you have a quality meal in a quality location. For those after a spot of lunch, we recommend 'The Hound' burger with melted Cheddar, tomato relish, fresh leaf, dill pickle and tomato aioli. For dinner, don't miss their mouthwatering 10oz rump steak which is pan seared and cooked to preference, with their own herb roasted veg, handcut chips and dressed fresh rocket.
The Greyhound has a dedicated team of staff ready to offer you quality service and quality food in a traditional pub setting, making it a must-visit if you're in the Derby area.
