Excellent meal, great atmosphere. Lovely friendly staff. 1st visit and I will definitely go again.

Tasty food. Good service. Friendly staff. We all had an enjoyable evening.

I'm sure the mashed potatoes were out of a packet.

What a fabulous place! It was a bitterly cold evening as we made our way to the Duke William restaurant, Bailgate, Lincoln. On entering the doors we were met with sheer warmth and the most helpful staff immediately.
Every table had flower petals and a liit candle upon it, adding an extra touch in keeping with Valentines evening.
The food tasted exceptional and was visually inviting. The menu was varied with plenty of choices.
The levels of customer service displayed were outstanding and all in all a lovely evening was had. When we visit Lincoln again we shall be in no doubt to eat here again and bring friends along next time.

Lovely meal , very friendly staff!

Excellent meal and evening at the Duke William!

Its a very long time since I visited the Duke William. The meal was very good indeed. Service was also very good. Nice atmosphere attentive staff. Will be coming back soon!

This was our first visit to this venue.
As soon as we arrived, we were greatly impressed. No plastic palace, just a venue of character, lovely, friendly ambience.
An excellent menu, attentive and helpful, friendly staff.
Prompt efficient service and the food was great. Truly great!
We consider ourselves to be regular, discerning diners, and we were impressed.
Slightly confused at the billing, which could have been a misunderstanding on our part, so politely said nothing.
We thought we had a wine and dinner deal, but did cost more.
    Will certainly return.

Very disappointing. Poor service and an absurd failure to have a wine list which resulted in the waitress standing at the table attempting to recite them totally spoilt the evening, despite good quality food.

The food at the Duke William was very good value and tasty. The service excellent, polite and efficient. Ambiance; well it is a pub and a bit barren with over noisy music, but they did turn it down when asked. All in all a good experience.

We say…

Set in the stunning Bailgate area, The Duke William Hotel lies close to the historic city of Lincoln’s gorgeous cathedral and castle, as well as the award-winning Museum of Lincolnshire Life.

This friendly restaurant and pub prides itself on providing home cooked British food and real cask ales. With a sympathetically refurbished interior, the Duke William greets you with a mesmerizing open fire, exposed yellow stone and a bar framed by thick wooden beams. Meanwhile, shelves are adorned with old books and the dining area is finished off with Singer sewing machine tables. Brightly painted walls bring colour to the interior while comfortable seating, thick candles and antique accessories make for a friendly yet ambient atmosphere.

The menu is wide, with something for everyone to try. Go for the Pâté made with duck and orange, served with toast and onion jam or, why not try the salmon fishcake served with baby leaves and Thai sweet chilli. Afterwards, experience the tasty red pepper and pesto tagliatelle served with rocket and parmesan, or our favourite the mussels marinaire cooked in a creamy garlic and white wine sauce and served with chunky bread and chips. For dessert, indulge in the classic sticky toffee pudding which has long been a winner with returning diners.

On a Sunday, the Duke William offers a scrumptious roast dinner, available with beef, chicken, lamb or pork as well as traditional Yorkshire pudding and yummy vegetables. If you’re looking for something less traditional, try The Duke Burger served on a brioche bun with cheddar, bacon, red onion and accompanied with dressed salad, chips and red cabbage coleslaw. Sample one of their gorgeous ciders to add an extra sparkle to the meal.

The Duke William Hotel is known for its wonderful atmosphere, cheery staff and fabulous value for money. Having 9 bespoke hotel rooms and a self catering holiday cottage next door it's a firm favourite to visit. For delicious and traditional food in Lincoln, mixed with fine ales The Duke William Hotel should definitely hit the spot.
