Great food, relaxed friendly staff and atmosphere.

Unfortunately, a wake was being held downstairs. Even more unfortunately upstairs was host to a group of ancient rugby players holding a belated Christmas lunch, along with crackers and paper hats. They were seated separated from my elderly friend and me only by a thin partition and as we left apologised for their noise. There were plenty of more distant tables they could have used.

We had fish and chips. The thrice fried chips tasted like old boiled potatoes dipped in not-hot-enough stale fat and the fish tasted as if it left the sea long ago.

It was meant to be a treat for my elderly friend, but she left thoroughly disappointed and vowed never to suggest going to the Blacksmiths Arms again.

Lovely ambience, staff always friendly & helpful. The food was very good, although the main course could’ve been hotter. Starters & desserts were all excellent.

Lovely meal in a superb setting. Spoilt for choice in terms of the menu, so many nice dishes to choose from. Good service.

Delicious Sunday roast beef, and good value for the standard of food and service. Our go-to place.

Exceptional food and service couldn’t fault anything on the night. Highly recommended.

Super birthday meal out; excellent food though the menu was slightly narrow - great service with a staff recommendation on wine which was one of the best we’ve had in a restaurant. Plus a birthday chocolate surprise on leaving! Would strongly recommend it.

We had a great meal last night. Food was delicious & great choice of wines on offer. Staff was very polite & friendly. Would definitely recommend & look forward to dining here again in the future.

Excellent food in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend and will be returning with friends.

Food always good, with great atmosphere.

Excellent roast beef Sunday lunch. Lovely place excellent service.

Excellent Sunday Lunch, great service and good value

All consistently excellent. Our first choice in this locality

Been here quite a lot and as always, food, service etc were very good.
Roast meats, were flavoursome, well cooked and presented. Excellent choice of seasonal foods.

Excellent food, competitively priced. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and staff could not have been more helpful or attentive. A good night was had by all!

Could not taste much chicken in the starter, but still very tasty. Superb roast beef could not fault it. Lovely bottle of wine reasonably priced. Will go again.

Service was very welcoming and friendly whilst at the same time attentive, food was delicious and beautifully presented, we would definitely recommend and go again.

We enjoyed our 1st meal here. Vegetables cooked crispy just how they should be. The meal could have been served hotter though. Food was only warm. Bailey's brulee was awesome! I thought the meal was a bit expensive and the conservatory needed a Christmas tree, however, we would come again and perhaps try an evening dinner next time.

    All great!

Had a Sunday lunch with family & friends. Couldn't fault a think. Food & service were superb. We have been here a few times & every time was amazing. I've also recommended friends to go & visit & they have since returned time & again.

Just about perfect in all respects, including the requested quiet table! By far the best of many choices in the area!

    As always excellent food.
    Very friendly and professional staff.

    Pheasant special really good

One of our favourite local restaurants. We took American visitors for dinner this time and as usual everyone enjoyed their meal. It is a good menu, food is always cooked well and service is very friendly.

Parking is a bit limited but you can't blame anyone for the limited space available!

Excellent meal as usual. Good value for the type of food served and wine was a wonderful smooth Primitivo.

    Great meal as always!

We went to the Blacksmiths for our anniversary meal, the menu choice was nice and varied and meant that actually choosing something was quite difficult as there was lots of lovely options. The mussels I had to start were particularly good, especially the sauce they were cooked in, my husband had the steak for main which just melted in the mouth and the cheese board was excellent.
The staff we so attentive and friendly which was so lovely, being able to share a giggle with the staff shows they enjoy what they’re doing, again making the whole experience worth every penny.
    We will definitely be returning!

Food and service was fantastic, we would definitely return.

The steak was the best steak I’ve ever had, recommend highly

Very nice place, competent, friendly staff, different menu choices. We only had two issues: the fish pie was "deconstructed" but the menu did not explain this and the chips were not to our taste as were very large at approximately 2.5 cm

Lovely meal; nice relaxing comfortable area for pre-dinner drinks. Made to feel very welcome on arrival. A bit too noisy towards the end of the meal so opted to have our coffee in the lounge area; would probably ask for a quiet table in future. Overall a good ambience. Will definitely return.

A lovely evening. Great atmosphere and service. The food overall tasted and looked amazing. But there were a couple of issues with our food order (steak not cookef as requested, and we were given the wrong menu).

Nice food, beautifully presented and I love the area where you can have a pre-drink. Ambience was only spoiled by glass breakages. Helpful hints? Encourage waitresses to take two champagne glasses to the table in their hands. We enjoyed the evening and will definitely be back. Lovely to see a nice pub renovated though and I am already recommending to others. Regards

    Good Food and service

Excellent food. Service was very good. Light, quiet dining.

Organised surprise birthday party for 17 people. Made to feel very welcome in the secluded upstairs area. Couldn't fault level of service to keep us all happy. Many thanks.

Very good lovely experience and excellent food.

The Blacksmiths Arms is our go to when we want to treat ourselves to a night out.

Well laid out restaurant. Comfortable and great service. Good menu with lots of choice and food was delicious.

    Will definitely go again.

It was fantastic lovely and fresh nice and tasty.

Enjoyed the meal very much. The only thing which was a bit disappointing was the car parking.

Excellent meal and atmosphere, good service at the bar and will definitely book again soon!

Lovely food and great service, love this restaurant.

Excellent meal. Just the right amount. Staff are friendly, professional and helpful. Best restaurant in the village and surrounding areas.

Excellent dining experience, fantastic food, helpful, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere for a special occasions.

We had duck pate and the charcuterie shared platter. Lovely food, attentive and helpful staff. We are regulars and will continue to be so.

Fantastic food - we all thought everything we had was delicious!

My friend and I had a very memorable time, wonderful meal in very nice surroundings, bit pricey but you do get what you pay for.
Wholeheartedly recommend to friends & family. Ken

Anniversary dinner - Couldn't fault food, beer, service or wine. One of the best in the area, most pleasant evening and quiet when we visited.

Lovely meal and fantastic service thankyou

We booked a meal for a friends birthday and sat in the conservatory room.
The staff were very polite and helpful.
The menu catered for all with a lot of choice, the difficulty being what to choose! Will just have to visit again to try the other dishes!
All of the meals ordered between our group were lovely, and all agreed that we should visit again soon.
The portions were of a good size and the food was excellent and great value for money.
Will definitely be booking again soon

Went to the Blacksmiths Arms with another couple, we had 2 Camembert sharers for starters, mine with GF bread, was really nice. The mains were a burger, very good and filling, duck, which was the best duck ever tasted. The seafood chowder was very tasty and the steak was great. The staff were on the ball, and the atmosphere was just right. We will all be definitely going back soon!

Unfortunately our meal was somewhat spoilt from being tucked away, upstairs and next to the radiator. There were plenty of free tables in nicer areas which weren't offered to us. We weren't walk ins, having booked a week previously and I would have hoped for a better experience. The food was lovely but what could have been a super first visit will probably be our last. Some thought needs to go into front of house service and placement of customers if they want happy returners.

Really warm welcome, excellent service & delicious food beautifully presented. Our party of 15 people all enjoyed the food & the surroundings.

We had a really lovely evening at the Blacksmiths Arms yesterday. The staff were friendly and efficient, the service was great, and we were all really impressed with the food. Would definitely recommend to others, and we will return.

Excellent food and good service at the Blacksmith's Arms. Very modern and very clean. Staff very friendly. Would definitely go back!

The Blacksmiths has a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere and very up to date and comfortable rooms to eat and drink in. Staff very friendly and attentive but not hovering over you as they can in some of the good restaurants locally. Food absolutely gorgeous and plenty of choice in starters, main and sweet menu. Highly recommend.

Fabulous meal and great service. Slightly disappointed that we were kept waiting for over an hour to be seated at table, but put that down to a very busy night. Would definitely book again.

Went for Sunday dinner, made very welcome straight from the start, lovely place, service brilliant, food excellent, will definitely be going back!

We all enjoyed our meals and it is possible to get a main and pud for £14. The waitresses were friendly and timing was excellent. I am coeliac and gluten free options were available for many dishes. I was disappionted with the gf biscuit that came with my delicious rhubarb pud. It was a very bog standard digestive. There are much more fancy gf bisciuts they could have bought or made to complement the dessert. The music was too loud and on repeat, which did make it tricky to concentrate at times. The waitresses applogised for this as they had noticed too. So I'm guessing this isn't the norm. I am looking forward to returning. The food was excellent; plenty of it and carefully presented.

Our party of 6 had Sunday lunch at the Blacksmiths Arms and the entire experience was lovely! The food and service both excellent!

I have different dishes each time I go. Have never been disappointed. Amazing food, excellent wines and lovely staff.

Lovely food - great atmosphere and fab service.

An interesting and well crafted menu. The food was excellent and the service attentive if less than top class.

A very interesting menu and well prepared food. Good service contributed to a great evening!

One of the best Sunday dinners we have had. Great food and lovely service. highly recommended and will definitely will be going again.

    Excellent in all respects.

All spot on as usual. Thank you

    Excellent Evening

Excellent and surprising little venue! Staff very friendly and accommodating, will definitely visit again.

The food was awesome at the Blacksmith's. As I am allergic to wheat flour and cows milk it was so refreshing to be able to order what I wanted and it not be a problem. The flavour and portion sizes were spot on and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends going forward.

Excellent food and service at the Blacksmith's. We were made to feel comfortable from start to finish, will definitely return.

We had a lovely night at the Blacksmith's Arms, the food was impeccable, service was polite and friendly the atmosphere was terrific. We will definitely be going back again.

Really delicious Sunday lunch at The Blacksmiths Arms and so much food - we couldn't manage dessert (not like us!). The children's portions are also huge!

The food was wonderful with great flavour combinations in a classy but uncomplicated style. The service was efficient and friendly!
