We say…

The latest venture of the people behind Manahatta and The Box, The Banyan Bar and Kitchen in Leeds has found a home in the city's Old Post Office building on City Square. Served an eclectic mix of world dishes, as well as breakfast and Sunday lunch, The Banyan is the perfect spot for an evening with friends, a lazy brunch for two or an evening meal with the family.

Minutes from Leeds train station, The Banyan's location makes it an easy find for locals and visitors alike. Boasting an al fresco dining area in one of the city's best public spaces, it's a great place for outdoor dining in the summer months. Not to worry if the weather is less than perfect: the interior of The Banyan is of the high standard that guests have come to expect of the Arc Inspirations brand. Statement lighting, copper accents, sea blue walls and weathered wood combine to merge the stylish with the rustic.

In terms of the menu, The Banyan have refused to stick to one cuisine, yet you'll find a heavy Asian influence throughout the main menu. For starters, go for the tempura king prawns with fresh lime and a chilli dip, or the crushed avocado and pea toasts with wasabi sour cream. Favourite mains include the Portuguese marinated half chicken with house fries as well as the teriyaki salmon served with fragrant rice, pak choi and coriander crème fraîche. For dessert, the salted caramel and chocolate torte with honeycomb ice cream is not to be missed.

The Banyan is also an excellent venue for those who require gluten-free dishes, as well vegetarians and vegans. From the vegan menu, start with the tempura vegetables with a sweet chilli and cucumber dip, followed by the wild mushroom tagliatelle topped with truffle oil and pine nuts. The peach and prosecco sorbet for dessert is a delicious end to any meal!

There's a satisfying drinks menu on offer too, including a variety of cocktails, beers, ciders and wines: gin lovers are in for a treat, with a Paradise collection available that pairs everyone's favourite gins with botanicals.

A welcome lease of vibrant life into the Old Post Office, The Banyan Bar and Kitchen is a must-visit for anyone in Leeds city centre after a menu that's as delicious as it is diverse
