We say…

Tharavadu is a unique Indian restaurant specialising in dishes from the Kerala region of India. This distinctive South Indian cuisine is growing in popularity throughout the UK, and you’ll love the twist on Indian food with subtle flavours and lots of vegetarian and seafood choices. The restaurant itself is located on Mill Hill in Leeds, right in the heart of the city centre, Therefore, it’s an amazing choice for a restaurant that will please everyone, but fantastic and out-of-the-ordinary dishes.

The restaurant itself is no ordinary Indian curry house in terms of décor, either. It’s beautifully decorated in multi-tonal woods and tasteful Indian touches, which nod to the riverside and seaside huts that are traditional in Kerala. The name of the restaurant comes from the sysyem of joint fmily practice, and is another term for ancestral homes in Kerala. The restaurant carries on these terms of family and tradition in its cuisine and hospitality, so you can ensure that you’ll be well looked-after in the lovely Tharavadu restaurant.

The menu is varied and has something for everyone’s tastes. The long coastline, rivers and backwaters of Kerla mean that Tharavadu emphasises seafood and river food based dishes, often rice with cassava and fish or meat or vegetables. Start off with a golden fried lentil doughnut, traditionally eaten for breakfast in South India. If you fancy something varied, we recommend the mixed vegetable bonda, or opt for the grilled tiger prawns with lemon and the chef’s special home made sauce. For your main, we recommend the thali – a platter of breads and different curries that will please everyone’s tastes, available vegetarian or meaty. Don’t skip the dessert, though, as we love the delicious, smooth Indian Kulfi ice cream in mango, pistachio and almond, or try the Jaggerry Dosa – a sweet gold pancake with warm cane sugar and nuts.

Tharavadu is a refreshingly different Indian restaurant, where you’re sure to discover new favourites. If you live in or near Leeds, you don’t want to miss out on this South Indian culinary treasure.
