We say…

Situated in the heart of the Peak District, amongst the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire, the Taj Mahal restaurant brings a slice of India to the beautiful English scenery. With a fantastic reputation for good value, excellent tasting Indian cuisine, Taj Mahal should be at the top of your list if you’re looking for something a little bit different in an area dominated by classic British pubs and restaurants.

The restaurant itself is bright and modern, with a spacious dining area and chic, stylish furnishings. The building is rustic and rural, a classic building of Derby’s countryside, and inside the restaurant retains some of the buildings original features, such as stone window panes, exposed wooden ceiling beams and stained glass windows. The combination of contemporary and classic features creates a gorgeous space and makes the Taj Mahal a fantastic place to spend of an evening.

The menu has been carefully put together by the restaurants’ dedicated and experienced chefs, including a huge selection of beautifully cooked Indian classics, modern favourites and signature dishes. Chosen personally by the head chef, choose dishes from the chef’s recommended menu, including the king prawn special, fried and cooked in a sauce using a special blend of herbs and spices. The Sagh Paneer is a particular favourite, a dish of chicken tikka or lamb tikka, cooked with fresh spinach and traditional Indian cheese. For something mild yet flavourful, the honey chicken is an excellent option, cooked in a sauce of almonds, coconut, yoghurt and honey topped with cheese. If you love a lot of heat in your dish then you should try one of the restaurant’s vindaloo dishes. A very hot sauce, the vindaloo is packed full of garlic, tomato, lemon, ginger and black pepper, with a lot of heat behind it – cooked with your choice of meat, prawns or vegetables.

A fantastic restaurant with an excellent reputation, the Taj Mahal, Buxton is a firm favourite in Derbyshire for truly brilliant Indian cuisine, great value for money and friendly, attentive service.
