We say…

Situated on New Briggate, a short walk from Leeds train station, is Sushi Waka. Serving up authentic Japanese sushi, noddles, curries and bento boxes, the restaurant has an experienced team behind their sensational Japanese cuisine.

Situated perfectly for pre-theatre dining and visitors to the city, with The Grand Theatre a stone's throw away and hotels in close proximity, stop by Sushi Waka for an evening meal or a quick lunch break.

With a spacious and open dining room, Sushi Waka is a great place for groups, but you'll easily find a quiet corner if you're dining as a couple. Dark wood and the occasional touch of coloured lighting ensures the venue is kept vibrant and exciting; a fitting for the food on offer, which you can watch being prepared in the open kitchen by the experienced head chef, Rui Wang. With 20 years of experience under his belt in some of London's top Japanese restaurants, you can expect tantalising flavours and presentation at Sushi Waka.

The menu itself is extensive, showcasing the best of Japanese cuisine, including sushi options such as sashimi, hosomaki, uramaki and nigiri. If you want larger dishes as well, the donburi bowls of rice, meat and vegetables, served with miso soup, are a delicious and authentic option. Sushi Waka also serve starters that aren't sushi, including the delicious ebi kataifi king prawns wrapped in kataifi shred served with a spicy mayonnaise, and the classic chicken gyoza served with vinegar, chilli and soy sauce. The special bento boxes are also a great option if you'd like to taste a range of Japanese flavours including shashimi, teriyaki and tempura, all served with rice, miso and salad.

With The Mix Karaoke booth upstairs, who knows where the night will lead you? Don't worry, the restaurant is a totally separate venue if singing isn't your idea of fun! Nevertheless, Sushi Waka's central location makes it the perfect starting point for an evening out.

With expertly-prepared dishes and in an ideal location for shoppers, theatre-goers and visitors to Leeds alike, you'll find beautiful Japanese cuisine at Sushi Waka. The choice of dishes is vast; we expect you'll leave planning your return.
