Steliana’s and Sapho’s Greek Taverna is situated in the centre of Derby, just across the road from the London Road Community Hospital and a stone’s throw from the central Derby train station. This location lends itself well to post-work drinks and a meal, or it would be great for a group trip out at the weekend, followed by more drinks at the nearby bars, pubs and clubs.
This place is considered something of hidden gem by their loyal local following, as the food is consistently outstanding and the ambience is always bright, friendly and buzzing. The setting will remind you of traditional Greek taverna, and if you’re lucky you may even get to enjoy some real Greek music from the wonderfully multi-talented waiters. Most of the locals know Andreas by name, as he makes sure that you feel as welcome as possible, always the friendly Greek host.
Sit down with a beer when you peruse the menu, as there’s plenty of delicious Greek food to choose from. Try the scampi to start, as it’s great to whet your appetite. We’d recommend the meze platter to begin with, as we love being able to sample a little bit of everything that the restaurant has on offer! Tuck into traditional dishes like crispy, golden falafel, a filling moussaka, creamy hoummus and succulent kebabs, and you’re sure to have a fantastic evening! Andreas cooks everything freshly, and you can tell how much care and attention is lavished into each dish. The kalamari, kleftiko and house chicken dishes are always popular, but you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
For a fantastically authentic Greek experience, be sure to pay Andreas and all of the staff at Steliana’s and Sapho’s Greek Taverna a visit, you won’t be disappointed by the atmosphere or the incredible dishes.
