Very reduced menu since the last visit. The food was still very tasty and well cooked.
    Service warm and friendly.
One of my party had a cup of tea at the end of the meal and was served with hot milk from a coffee machine. When she asked for cold milk was told they had no milk. What restaurant doesn't have milk? If the menu stays the same would probably not go again.

Great food. Friendly and great service. Superb value for money. Loved it.

Authentic Italian cuisine, well cooked and presented with friendly service at reasonable prices. Would have preferred some Italian music in the background rather than pop but the atmosphere was good.

Had a lovely meal, slightly pricey, but worth it.

Really lovely little restaurant. Great staff and great food.

We visited Sophia's after a recommendation from a friend that has regularly eaten here across the years and it was a five-star recommendation. We were greeted on arrival in a warm and friendly manner as if we were regulars, the menu is interesting and varied, and the quality of the food was top class. As I said to my dining companion (we are about two hours away from Northampton), it would be worth visiting Northampton just to eat at Sophia's. Thank you very much.

Sophia’s is an old Northampton restaurant that’s stood sign of the times! My recent visit was the first in years. Not sure why as it’s still an amazing Italian find with great food. I had spaghetti Bologna’s, simple but perfect. The garlic bread is to die for and the atmosphere is very cosy and what you’d imagine. The owner is hands-on and engaging. Perfect for any occasion and a pre-theatre visit too.

Highly recommend. The food is lovely and the staff are very polite.
I will be going back again.

    Food was delicious
Staff were very friendly & polite
    I will be back.

A lovely night out. The food was deliciously hot and plentiful. The staff attentive and friendly. Well worth a visit.

I had the steak followed by cheesecake. I can't praise the meal enough and wish I'd known about this restaurant years ago. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Another lovely meal, food was excellent and the service beyond reproach will definitely be going again.

The meal was very good. It would have got more stars but the waiter was a bit too keen to clear up before we had finished each course so it felt a bit rushed.

Excellent food and fantastic personal service. Can’t wait to visit again!!

    It was as usual excellent.

We had an excellent meal at Sophia's on Saturday night, The food was first class, every course was delicious. Great atmosphere, everybody was enjoying their occasions and catching up with people. The value was excellent just like the quality of the food. The service was spot on. The staff were smart, efficient and helpful to our every need.

Great food, great staff. Loved it there.

Thoroughly enjoyable evening, lovely atmosphere and fantastic service.

Food was amazing … food came out quick, however, potentially there was not long enough of a gap between each course

I'm not sure what to put for 'service' as all the staff put one was fantastic. I ordered a bolognese calzone without mushrooms, and my friend ordered a chicken calzone. The waitress gave mine saying 'bolognese' and then my friend's saying 'chicken'. Mine had mushrooms in it but I didn't want to make a fuss so just picked them out. Despite that, the food was great. My friend was picking at hers (eating just the surround) then she said 'I think this is bolognese CaLzone.' She tried to eat a bit more but really didn't like it, so I felt unable to continue with mine and called over a member of staff. The waitress was mortified and couldn't apologise enough. She agreed to take it off the bill as the others in our group had nearly finished and we didn't want to keep them waiting.
Then another staff member came over (an older gentleman who we thought was the manager--incidentally, he's been there years and years and is part of the furniture, but never had a problem with him before) and proceeded to argue that as we'd eaten half of it we couldn't have it off the bill. He'd give us only one free. He was very curt and almost angry in his approach and made us feel as if we'd done something wrong (maybe by complaining!). Anyway, I said he could do that if he wished but I had 'a right to review'. He replied: 'That's blackmail.' He went away, and then another member of staff came over and offered us a HUGE discount but it wasn't until leaving that I learned he was the true manager. Would I go back? Yes, definitely. Great atmosphere, lovely grub and Mr Grumpy who I'm determined to make smile!

Arrived for our 8pm booking for 4 of us, they didn’t seem to know where we were going to sit and thought our booking was for 6, got put upstairs, didn’t really like it upstairs as no atmosphere and pretty cold, wanted to order steak Diane and was told we have none left, as they been busy, really? Was told we could order fillet steak and have the Diane sauce ,what’s the difference, apart from more expensive, very disappointing, as been loads of times and never bee told that before, was this because Dec and to make more money out if customers, food was lovely ,but spoilt by this and the fact we were shoved upstairs, waitress didn’t really seem to know what they were doing, for how much you pay expect better.

Never been disappointed, food good and well presented. Service excellent and staff friendly.

Lovely restaurant, the food is amazing, the service outstanding.

We had a wonderful meal at Sophia's! We had a starter each and a main and it was faultless. The service was amazing and we can't wait to return!

Friends and I had a beautiful meal, they all had the lasagna and I had the spinach & ricotta cannelloni.

Fantastic authentic tasty food and good old fashioned personal service.

I had a lovely evening with friends. Both the food and service were great.

This was perfect to celebrate a birthday. Service was good without rushing you to place your order. The staff and owner was friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Would recommend it to anyone who wanted the best for a special day.

This is the fourth time my friends and I ( 14 of us this time.. ??) have used this restaurant for a get together meal. As always the staff were friendly and cheerful. They actually helped to make the evening fun. John was our waiter and remembered us from last time. Everything was to the standard we expected. Everyone remarked on what a wonderful evening it was..
What more can I say.. We will be returning in the year ahead Godwilling.. ??

    A lovely dining experience.

Absolutely stunning restaurant with outstanding food and the service and hospitality was the best I have seen. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Sophias and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Authentically miserable staff, had a great night, looking forward to returning!

Our first time at Sophia's and definitely not our last. Wonderful hosts and excellent food with a wine list for all tastes. Recommend highly!

Great evening, good food and service at Sophia's.

The food was not up to Sophia's usual standard but were told they were training some one new in the kitchen, will give it a few months and hope next time it is back to normal, very nice friendly staff.

Wonderful place. Great service. Food was amazing. Will be going again soon to Sophia's.

Good food friendly staff will be going back.

Excellent meal with friendly service. So much so, we'll be coming back to Sophia's!

A beautifully cooked and well presented meal. The Tiramisu is homemade and excellent. A reasonably priced wine list. The 3 course weekday deal is not available on Fridays.

Following the high recommendation from Go dine, I made a first booking with Sophia's restaurant. The recommendation was not misplaced. There was some misunderstanding with the menus that could be chosen from and the set menu was a little disappointing in terms of choice. However, the a la carte menu was quite special, both in terms of the choices offered for each course and, as subsequently discovered, the quality of the food. Unlike several other restaurants recently visited, the timing of the ordering of the meals was spot-on - no unnecessary waiting or intrusion. The food was well prepared, served at an enjoyable temperature and the portions were generous. Good value for the price of each item. The wine list was enticing without being too excessive. The staff found time for pleasant conversation that was suitable for the ambience of the restaurant. With an upstairs section that also contains the rest rooms, Sophia's is a rendezvous location for a number of occasions - in this present case a birthday celebration for my wife. It will certainly figure in future celebrations, or simply for an enjoyable meal in congenial surroundings. It is a pity, however, that the only parking available in the immediate vicinity of Sophia's was on-street.

Just a little too dark and table under the stairs again - good job hubby is not a tall man! Food was lovely as always, great service and good value.

We had our meals as part of a Wedding Reception at Sophia's. We were only a small party of 25 and they opened on a Saturday afternoon especially for us. The food was delicious and we were looked after like royalty. I highly recommend this lovely little restaurant.

Sophia's is a fantastic little restaurant that does a really nice tortellini al pesto! The food is served in generous portions so you're always sure get your money's worth. Staff are brilliant and there's always a fun atmosphere. I highly recommend this place!

Sophia's is the one restaurant in Northampton who really knows how to get Italian food just right! The pizza, in particular, is just as fresh and tasty as the ones I had in Naples several years ago. The service too is always outstanding! For these two reasons alone, you must try this restaurant!

Yet another delightful meal at Sophia's. Their Bannoffi pie is to die for.

Lovely family owned and run restaurant. Good service and you get treated like you have dined there for years!

Lovely meal, excellent and quick service. Friendly family run restaurant worth a visit. Good value for money too.

Tasty food and not too badly priced considering there were 6 of us!

Excellent all round food, service and value for money. A great way to spend a friday night!

    food ok, can be expensive.
suprised when we were never asked during our meal if all was ok!
