Have hear this restaurant mentioned many times and decided to see what the fuss was all about. Now I understand why! All aspects were superb from the entrance, the wine choice (made by the waiter to accompany mains) the quality of the food and atmosphere! It is obvious why this establishment was full to the brim with happy customers!

We say…

Situated on Otley Road, on the same stretch of road as Sukothai and Domino’s Pizza in Headingly, is Salvo’s; an Italian restaurant that has become widely recognised for serving excellent Italian cuisine.

Since opening in 1976, Salvos has become an institution in Headingly and locals and visitors alike flock to dine at this authentic Italian restaurant. Inside the restaurant is cosy, warm and welcoming with red walls that are adorned with family photographs that map out the history of Salvo’s. The restaurant is not just popular in the local vicinity, the Salvo’s team have also been on, and won, ‘Best Local Italian’ on Gordon Ramsay’s ‘The F Word’. This accolade attracted more attention for the already much-loved restaurant and sees the dining room packed to the rafters night after night.

The restaurant take food very seriously and use as much local produce as possible including a local veg supplier and meat from Sykes House in Lancashire. On the menu you will find a whole host of classic Italian dishes. The colours, textures and flavours have all been carefully combined to create memorable dishes that will have you coming back time after time. Their Antipasti dishes are like little pieces of artwork with the Affettato Misto, a platter of cured Italian meats with grissini sticks, olives and rocket, being a particular favourite. For mains an array of pizza and pasta dishes are available with just one of the stand-out dishes being the Risotto con Capesante; pan roast king scallops of langoustine risotto served with mixed salad.

Despite the popularity of this restaurant, standards of service remain consistently high with well-trained and attentive staff who are truly passionate about their working environment. If you are looking for outstanding Italian cuisine for an affordable price, Salvo’s is the place to go. If it’s good enough for Ramsay, it’s good enough for us!
