We say…

First listed in the Good Food Guide in 1985, and retaining their position ever since, Roade House in Northamptonshire is widely recognised as one of the best restaurants in the region. Situated in the rural village of Roade, just ten minutes’ from the M1, it is the perfect venue for get-togethers where friends and family need to travel from far and wide.

Described by Francis Moseley in The Times as ‘a place that’s worth going out of the way for’, Roade House is a truly exceptional venue. Visitors are welcomed by the friendly and professional staff and can enjoy a pre-meal drink in one of the comfortable leather sofas in the lounge and bar area before taking their place in the main dining room. Offering a classy and traditional dining space, Roade House is the perfect setting for a family dinner or a sophisticated lunch date.

The aim at Roade House is to offer wholesome food that takes its culinary influences from around the world, in an enjoyable atmosphere. The menu changes weekly to keep up with the finest and freshest produce from the local area as well as keeping up to date with the latest culinary trends. Keep an eye out for dishes such as the salad of warm duck rillettes with seared duck liver and quails eggs for a truly delicious starter. The mains offer something for everyone, with the dedicated meat eater being able to tuck into a seared pave of Lincolnshire red, 28-day matured sirloin steak served with confit of braised oxtail, red wine sauce and horseradish mash. Other mains include the baked fillet of cod served with a butter bean, tomato and chorizo stew; a hearty warming dish for the coldest of nights. For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert selection will prove unavoidable with homemade ice creams and a fine cheeseboard being just some of the options.

With a fine reputation and a long-standing pedigree, you may expect to pay the earth for a meal at Roade House but many leave surprised and with their pockets still intact! The menus are very reasonably priced considering the calibre of the food on offer. Perfect for any occasion, Roade House is ideal for those looking for a little taste of countryside glamour.

    Overall:

Enjoyed a beautiful meal here on Valentines Day. As always the welcome was warm and the food first class. We have been visiting the Roade House for more years than I care to remember and the standards have remained consistently high.

We enjoyed our meal but the restaurant did not have enough atmosphere. It was very bright and there was no music. The staff were very attentive, the food was nice but I have had better.

    Overall:

Dessert menu was in a plastic folder which was out of character for the beautiful dinner menu and restaurant. Also a wine with sediment really requires decanting or serving.

    Overall:

The food at the Roade House tastes great. On every occasion we have been for an evening meal, we have never left disappointed. The dishes look attractive and the price definitely reflects in the standard of the food. I also like that the ingridients are locally sourced and the menu changes with the season. Great stuff!
