If you’re looking for some spice and excitement in the centre of Derby, look no further than Revolucion de Cuba. You can find it on the Stand, just down the road from the Derby Central Library. It’s easy to find and pop into, as it’s near all the major shopping centres, tourist attractions and business districts in Derby, so pop in for a drink and a bite to eat whether you’re just heading into Derby to do some shopping, are enjoying a weekend break, or are wanting to treat yourself to something special after work.
The venue is unlike any other in Derby, it manages to be wonderfully spacious, with high ceilings and stained glass windows, while still being cosy and eclectic. You’ll love the mishmash of comfy chairs and funky patterns contrasting with the black and white Cuban photos on the wall. Sit down on one of the attractive mother of pearl tables, or have a lean at the wide and open bar chatting before you head over for your meal. Revolucion de Cuba is ideal for bigger groups and small parties alike, as there’s enough space for everyone and is always buzzing with atmosphere and customers, though we’d advise you to book fast if you’re bringing a large party to eat.
The menu is wide-ranging and features lots of delicious Central American-inspired dishes, as well as plenty of spicy Latin American favourites. Try the crispy tortilla chips with a creamy guacamole, then go for a pulled pork taquito or Cajun creamy mushrooms from the tapas menu. For your main, either go for a few tapas dishes or try the bestselling burgers; we love the jerk chicken offering with mango salsa. The large plates are also tempting, so try the chargrilled halloumi or the burrito with either slow-cooked shredded beef, chicken, or a fresh mix of mushrooms, bean and spinach. Don’t skip out on the cocktails, though, as Revolucion de Cuba is also known for its amazing night scene.
Revolucion de Cuba is that rare find that is just as much fun during the day with food as it is at night with a drink, so make sure you sample both sides of this amazing restaurant next time you’re in Derby.
