Originally home to Sir Francis Willoughby, a 16th century industrialist and coalowner, Wollaton Hall is a striking Grade I listed country house that now offers itself as a natural history museum, industrial museum, and natural connections gallery. The Hall is surrounded by 500 acres of formal gardens and sumptuous parkland, the latter of which is partly inhabited by Red Deer and Fallow Deer, amongst other wildlife.
Wollaton Park and its perfectly pristine gardens are often the site for special events including music concerts, outdoor cinema showings, motor shows and sporting occasions. More recently, Wollaton Hall has risen to fame as one of the settings for the fictional Wayne Manor in the acclaimed Batman film ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.
The Park is located within the peaceful suburb of Wollaton which can be found just 3 miles to the west of Nottingham city centre. It is accessible from the M1 motorway via the A52 or the A6514. Parking is available at a small fee, and free of charge to disabled badge holders.
