The Athena Conference Centre is a very large venue in Leicester which is rented out for business and personal functions. There is a total of 5 rooms which are available for hosting events, catering for occasions for 120-1500 people. There is the reception area, which is used as a meet and greet venue for smaller events which would move onto any of the other rooms or venues. There are two main hosting rooms, which are the Cinema Suite that holds up to 1000 people and the Gallery that can host a maximum of 400. Both these rooms are made into an audience setup for presentation and stage event purposes. The last two rooms are break out areas The Deco Lounge and The City View Lounge.
The Athena Conference Centre was originally built in 1936 as an Odeon cinema. It only had one screen, but it seated 3000 viewers which made it of the most specious and extravagant buildings in Leicestershire. Some renovations were made on it in the 1960s, where the major change was the division of the big screen into 4 smaller ones. It was then closed in the 1990s, to be refurbished to its current state in only in 2005.
To get here, head towards Leicester city centre, preferably from the East side on the A47. You will reach a roundabout at the end of the A47, where you should take the 2nd exit onto the A594. Turn right onto Queen Street where you will find the conference centre to your left. There is a private parking facility that caters for up to 120 cars.
