Four of us dined at Perkins last night off the Fabulous Friday menu. There was plenty of variety. Starters fish cakes, main Duck leg the biggest one we had ever seen with delicious veg. Desserts rhubarb Panama cotta type lovely and coffee a little cake included. Added to which on Friday it's live music, guitar, and a vocalist, they were really good and not too loud or intrusive! Staff very good. Wonderful evening!

Absolutely lovely dining experience, staff only too happy to do anything to help, food was amazing and lunchtime deal was good value, I shall be making another trip for sure in the near future.

We are long-standing patrons of Perkins but we only had to book online when we found that their phone was out of order.
We ordered from the prix fixe menu but found that there was a paucity of choices on offer. Anyway, we found something we liked and the starter and dessert were excellent albeit the main courses were slightly short measured for our liking. The service was excellent as always and the value for money was also excellent.
The ambiance in the crowded (always a good sign) restaurant spoilt a bit by the acoustics.

One of the nicest Sunday Lunches I've had in a long time!

As per usual an amazing lunch, my personal opinion is that the starter - deep fried brie was a bit too much and needed some sort of chutney. I had the chicken for main with a honey and mustard sauce Koffman cabbage and mash, it was delicious. House wine is French and always a winner with me. Really really nice atmosphere, busy with a chilled vibe. Such a great value lunch menu.

Enjoyable food served by very pleasant young waiting staff. Food good but marred by the table by a draught window in the conservatory. A nice place for a special birthday meal.

Really lovely welcome when we arrived for a Sunday lunch for 6 of us.
The food was all really good everyone loved it, perfectly cooked roast dinner amazing gravy, my only criticism is the starters are a little small, so we ordered extra bread.

We took friends who had travelled up from the south coast to stay with us. Perkins did not disappoint any of the four of us. A well rounded, tempting menu was offered which enabled us all to find something to suit each individual. The courses were well-timed and were presented faultlessly. Service was cheerful and efficient, the food excellent. No hesitation at all in recommending this establishment for both formal and/or informal occasions. One for a definite rematch!

Perkins restaurant is very relaxing with good service and excellent food. The lunchtime menu was at a very reasonable price.

All SUPERB. We enjoyed it so much that we've booked a large birthday meal celebration there in November.

Disappointing meal. Opted for a pricey fillet steak, which much to my surprise was largely chewy and also overcooked.

The meal was fine as usual apart from overdone side order of chips which was knocked off the bill. One other thing with live music on Fridays is that it could do with being less loud.

What a lovely place. Food was very nice, beautifully presented. However portion size was very small and rather expensive for what you got. Wine also expensive. However, having said that, everything we had was great, and lovely for a special treat!

Been many times to Perkins and not had a bad experience yet. I tried the sea bass this time and it was really good. Excellent value with lovely staff and service.

I booked this afternoon as a girly afternoon for my mum & friends as we came to Perkins in October for mums birthday and loved it so much :-).
Had the set meal lunch menu and it was as lovely as our last visit. We were the last to leave as having such a lovely time, thank you.

Again service staff 1st class and meal was excellent. My wife said the lamb was a bit fattier than last time but still managed to eat every bit of it strangely. Will go back soon.

Good food!

Perkins keep up to the incredibly high standard of both food and service for which they have become famous. Their home-baked bread is the stuff of legend, the fish pie went down a storm and the crumble could have been made by angels. Pair all that with the fabulously friendly staff and you have a perfect evening - why would we go anywhere else?!

Visited many times, always good value for money and excellent service.

We were greeted very warmly however it took 20 minutes before being offered a drink. We also had to wait half an hour to be seated at our table. The starters were of average quality, nice but nothing special and were quite pricey. The main was fantastic, we both had fillet steak. The dessert again, similar to starter was nice but not worth the price. We were left sat with no drinks for an hour, no water. Finally someone asked if we would like drinks but this what is, we were not offered again for the rest of the meal. Overall a pleasant experience although for the prices I would expect the service to be a lot better.

We had a wonderful meal, both ordering fish dishes which were cooked to perfection and very flavoursome .... would seriously recommend the sea bass fillets!

The reception on arrival was first class and my guests were made to feel at home immediately. Following this, the attention paid to my party was again first class even though one could see the restaurant was busy, The food was cooked to perfection and my party could not heap too much praise on the quality or the waitresses. Another excellent meal with my guests stating a return visit is a must. Well done Perkins.

Fabulous Friday menu was an excellent value. Lovely atmosphere created by live blues group. The beef bourguignon was disappointing as it was very salty. The young staff were efficient and professional and a pleasure to deal with.

We all chose the fixed price menu and although there were only three choices for each course there was something to suit everyone. The food was well cooked and presented in a friendly atmosphere.

I was disappointed with the afternoon tea. The scones were almost like thick biscuits. On a positive note the sandwiches were nice and fresh. I have had better elsewhere

Perkins is always value for money. The staff always helpful and pleasant.

Unfortunately we were next to a table with 2 very noisy and exuberant children whose parents did nothing to keep them under control which spoiled our evening. The food was not up to the usual standard however the restaurant manager asked what was wrong and assured us that this would be passed on to the kitchen staff. Front of house staff were all very attentive and pleasant even though they were extremely busy.

We had lunch at Perkins for a special occasion, I cannot fault the food or the service we received.

As always the service on arrival and during our stay for Sunday lunch was impeccable at Perkins. Always treated like royalty where nothing was too much bother. The food was cooked to perfection and extremely tasty. Will as always return in the near future.

We really love Perkins. There's a special kind of ambience about this place. This is without question our favourite restaurant. Sunday lunch was really nice and tasty, the staff are very attentive and always make you feel welcome. We will be back again soon.

Food was very good. Vegetarian main was disappointing, a pastry dish with some veg plonked on top. But all other courses were enjoyed. Excellent service as usual.

The staff were amazing, very professional and warm; the food was great and the place is wonderfully set in the Nottinghamshire countryside. I highly recommend Perkins to anyone.

Excellent lunch, a la carte for us at Perkins. All options for gluten and dairy free explained thoroughly & executed deliciously. Always excellent service & food. Quiet when we arrived but soon filled up with other happy lunchers. Lots of folk choosing the prix fixe menu. Even dairy free cheese board to offer!

The food we had was delicious but the portions were very small for the price of the item. We had the Hake and people on the table next to us had the same and their fish was nearly twice as big as ours. The service was excellent.

Food quality is high, however, it didn't feel 100% freshly prepared which was a little disappointing considering the price. Atmosphere is subdued and feels like it needs a bit of a freshen up in the dining room. Overall experience was enjoyed by those who it was arranged for (parent, 60+ old), however I don't feel the venue is a place I would revisit personally.

Don't know if we just went on a bad day but we were attending a wedding nearby and decided to go here for lunch as I'd heard so many wonderful things about Perkin's restaurant and I love food. I was just so disappointed. The starters were okay but the main was not good. They forgot some of the sides for my husbands duck roast and the roast potatoes weren't good at all. My chicken was okay, but that's the thing, I didn't think I was going to such a fancy place for just ordinary food. My dessert I didn't finish. I'd ordered a chocolate tart. The filling was terrible, really hard, you needed to push the knife really hard and tasted like cheap chocolate rather than the soft rich chocolatey filling I was expecting. Funny thing is the wedding was catered by them, the dessert was chocolate tart and was just what I'd expected at lunch. Made me wonder if they'd just ignored the restaurant lunch service in favour for the wedding catering! Wouldn't go back though.

Had a pleasant evening at Perkins. The food was generally good, my guests wood pigeon was too salty for their taste and my cheese filo tart was rather rubbery, however all was forgiven when we had the orange bakewell which was superb.

Went for Sunday lunch, very good value, exceptional food. Service was very good, however took a while for dessert plates to be cleared and to get the bill, but minor point. Would definetly return, setting is lovely and food amazing.

Whilst the food served was excellent in every way the changes to Perkins decor-wise meant that I found it too modern and the old ambiance and upmarket feeling was gone. The service too left a little to be desired as we were not asked if our coats could be taken and no-one kept an eye on our wine, never mind came to top it up for us. For me it was, overall, a disappointing evening and I will not be tempted to return. A great shame as the food is let down by everything else.

Food was lovely... Staff need more training had to ask for the wine list 3 times... Some staff too personal... The restaurant seemed to closed in with too many covers...

Another enjoyable experience. One fault, the pidgeon breast and the duck were not left to rest after cooking, the blood weeped out onto the plate and spoilt the presentation of the meal.

Lovely setting and blessed with beautful weather on the day. Great value for the midweek lunch. Food good, but have had better here before. Service, excellent, although we should have stated that were were on a working lunch to speed things up a bit. We didn't have time to have the three courses. Shame, but still great value, lovely setting and good service.

We love a trip to Perkin's. The food and service are reliably good and it's worth the extra money for a special occasion.
