We say…

Middle Eastern meze and cocktails at swinging New York jazz bar.

Peggy’s Skylight is the realisation of one Nottingham couple’s dream to bring a New York-calibre jazz bar to their home city of Nottingham.

Jazz musicians Rachel Foster and Paul Deats have poured their experiences of – and love for – many a jazz bar around the world into making their very own stage for the UK’s finest musical talents.

The Hockley venue is a multi-storey adventure of classic Manhattan personality and intricate Middle Eastern décor. From the lovingly restored skylights that bring out the true grandeur of the venue to the fun of the repurposed vintage cinema seats, there’s always something new to take in.

The food offering is where their slogan “New York to Damascus” really comes into play, with a cast of exquisite meze that draws on inspiration from every corner of the Middle East promising to delight diners with something different.

Expect to sample culinary highlights from Lebanon, Cyprus, Persia and further afield like Lebanese savoury flatbread served with sweetly spiced minced lamb, yoghurt and pickles and North African chermoula, a medley of veg brought to life with a lemony rub of spices.

Leave space for dessert, too, unless you want to miss out on a showstopping line up of sweet treats, most intriguing of which are the ice creams: rosewater, pistachio, cardamom and orange flower or almond made with coconut milk.

Of course, Peggy’s is as much about the music as is it the food. It’s the place to get acquainted with a world of jazzy talent thanks to a bustling schedule of live sets.

While some of these are ticketed events, you’ll not go without enjoying some sublime musical accompaniment on your visit to Peggy’s. A push to raise funds for a baby grand piano for the venue has almost reached its target and - if successful – is set to form the centrepiece on Peggy’s, housed on a magnificent purpose-built stage.

At the moment Peggy’s hasn’t got a phone number so you’ll need to make your reservation using the booking form on the website.
