    All round very nice experience.

Excellent meal, we really enjoyed it. The only problem, when we got home and looked at the bill realised they charged us for 2 three-course meals whereas my husband had a three-course, I had a two-courses. Apart from that, we had a lovely evening.

At the Buxton Opera Festival. Had an excellent meal!

Fantastic meal and friendly service will be back again!

Despite salty soup food was excellent but service was excruciatingly slow.

Overall, I would have to say what a disappointment the Old Hall restaurant was. Flattered to deceive is how best summed up.

They very kindly reduced our bill, after serving 3 very badly under cooked steaks, although any restaurant worth its salt would of cooked new ones, not reheated the same ones in a microwave. My fillet was stone cold, the service was shocking, ran out of food, forgot the bread, etc, etc.

However, I will be even handed, the staff tried their best, and were friendly & polite. There was a complete lack of leadership, and a shortage of staff, although the table to our right went over board in expressing there annoyance.

    Would we go back? No.
    Would we recommend it? No.

Living on former glories, or we picked one incredibly bad day to dine there. Have to say we felt sorry for the Maitre" D, Lou. She was a different class, and wasted there.

Apologies if this offends anyone, but having partied with well over £130, I think I have every right to express my concerns. I hope my comments are acted on, and changes made.

We were first in to the restaurant on valentines weekend. The building and restaurant itself looks great. The booths are a great idea rather than sitting on chairs opposite each other (although standard tables are available). I don't think I have had better or more prompt service at a restaurant anywhere and as the place filled up the staff seemed very attentive with all the customers. The food was also excellent delivered promptly great presentation and taste. Once we had finished our meal we just went into one of the lounge rooms (there is more than one) to relax while we waited for our taxi.

The Old Hall is located in one of my favourite places to visit and so its fantastic that we can also visit such a nice restaurant whenever we go to Buxton! The staff were particularly friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
