I took my girlfriend for a Sunday lunch to celebrate an anniversary and had a really good meal. We had 3 courses each, including your traditional sunday dinner and I had a pistachio dessert which was amazing. My girlfriend really enjoyed her meal too and the service was very good. The staff and owners are really friendly and came out to talk to use at the end of the meal. Overall I would say this is one of the best restaurants in Lincoln and I would recommend highly.

Visited The Old Bakery for the first time about a month ago and have been recommending it to friends and family ever since. The menu is imaginative and well constructed with a good choice of different dishes which come well presented and perfectly cooked. I highly recommend the beef stuffed with blue cheese, it was absolutely delicious. I look forwards to visiting again soon!

We say…

The Old Bakery Restaurant with Rooms is a multi-award winning restaurant with no less than 2 AA rosettes,  a 4 Star Silver award and an East Midlands’ Gold award. Ideally located in the Uphill area of Lincoln, on Burton Road, close to the Cathedral quarter, the castle and other points of historic interest, The Old Bakery is a popular dining destination for residents and visitors alike.

The restaurant itself is separated in to three distinct dining rooms, offering guests a variety of different dining experiences to choose from. The first room boasts exposed brick walls, a feature wine rack with labels hanging from the neck of each bottle and a cash drawer on the wall with a hole worn in the halfpenny section. The second room doubles as the breakfast room for those who are staying in one of the four bedrooms available on site and the third is the temperature-controlled garden room that is able to seat up to forty guests. With glass ceilings and walls, the garden room is wonderfully bright and airy during the day and atmospheric and romantic in the evenings. The garden room is also home to a variety of different herbs as well as an olive bush and lemon and orange trees, that bear plenty of fruit for use in the kitchen, giving the space an aromatic edge.

Proprietors Ivano, Tracy and Alan take pride in using local produce in their dishes and are keen to build bonds with local producers such as the millers as Ellis Mill, just off Burton Road, who provide the Old Bakery with flour ground at the four-sail  mill which is used daily to make their home-made breads. Ivano is a passionate and highly talented chef who uses the freshest ingredients to create an inventive modern European menu. Up to 90% of the ingredients used are sourced locally resulting in mouthwatering dishes such as the hay and fresh herb slow-roasted ‘Peter Lundgren’ Gloucester Old Spot baby pig served with stir fried garlic potatoes, cinnamon and apple braised red cabbage and smoked pancetta cream; and char-grilled ‘Peterborough Game’ local beef fillet with slow roasted tomatoes, dried Parma ham with ‘Eden Farms’ organic potato with sautéed porcini mushrooms and a rich beef jus.

If you’re looking to go for all-out indulgence, an Italian tasting menu, which can be enjoyed with or without the accompanying matched wines, is the perfect choice for a special occasion whilst an incredible value for money lunch menu is ideal for those looking to perk up their lunchtimes.

The Old Bakery is a gorgeous, family-run venue in Lincoln offering fantastic food and equally impressive service. Their use of local produce and their rustic-inspired dining rooms work together to create a relaxed dining experience that will draw you back time and time again.
