As the name of this delightful little cafe would suggest, No.12 Houndsgate is located on Nottingham city centre's Houndsgate, just around the corners from the main shopping district and cafe's and restaurants, and short stroll to other amenities such as cinemas, theatres and the Nottingham Contemporary art gallery. This makes No.12 Houndsgate absolutely ideal for a quick cuppa and bite to eat whilst out shopping, a catch-up with friends before a film or show or indeed as a destination in its own right.
What makes this cafe so special is its focus on vegetarian and vegan food and drink that is both creative and delicious. Founders Lauren and Ritchie started No.12 Houndsgate in September of 2017 having spent years experimenting with food and flavours. Their passion for what they do translates into the love they have clearly poured into decorating the interior, making it cosy, comfortable and contemporary. Slate-coloured wooden cladding is paired with mustard and emerald cushions that make for a warm and welcoming feel.
The menu has got the foodies of Nottingham waxing lyrical. The scrumptious potato and parsnip hash or Great British Fake Off with rosemary roasted mushrooms, marbled potatoes crispy maple 'bacon', wilted spinach, roasted vine tomatoes and sunny-side-up egg are just a couple of the mouth-watering breakfast offerings. For lunch, there is a selection of beautifully-prepared open sandwiches or the option to 'build a bowl' with your choice of grains, proteins, veggies and dressings, such as bulgar wheat with goats cheese, heritage tomatoes and sticky balsamic glaze. Delicious!
Visitors have also been raving about the variety of cakes and desserts available, with the toasted banana bread served with vegan peanut butter and ice cream being a particular favourite.
No.12 Houndsgate is fast becoming one of Nottingham's go-to cafe's, and it's easy to see why. Visit today to see what all the fuss is about!
