We arrived 15 minutes early and got a very friendly welcome, the waiter showed us to our table, we started looking through the menu and he recommended a couple of dishes which we hadn't tried before my girlfriend had chicken tikka kallen and I had genghis khan's masala which was absolutely lovely and I would recommend to my friends we will definitely go again.

Fantastic food and service, lovely friendly restaurant, the pre-theatre menu for £11.95 exceptional, poppadoms, starter, palette cleanser, main and coffee, fantastic value and lovely food! Cannot wait to go again.

We did the pre theatre menu and it was excellent, generous tasty portions, we couldn’t finish it all. Staff were friendly and efficient. We would highly recommend a visit. We will definitely be going back.

We booked a pre theatre meal for £11.95. It was very good quality and plenty of food. Although there wasn't a lot of choice, there was enough. We had poppadoms, starters, curry with rice and nan bread. Then we had a sorbet to finish. Very friendly and polite staff. Very convenient to theatre, as only across the road. Well worth a visit.

Excellent attention to our party and made my sisters birthday good. Food very tasty and cleanliness very good! Not been for a few years but has drastically improved!

Excellent value pre-theatre meal. Basic set menu, but got most peoples favourites on, fine if only the start to the night not the main event. Kingfisher on draught.

I went to Mogal-E-Azam for my birthday meal and had a lovely evening with incredibly delicious food, a great atmosphere and experienced an amazing service from restaurant staff. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Lovely food as usual at Mogal-E-Azam and good service. A nice large traditional Indian restaurant.

Tasty food and friendly service at Mogal-E-Azam. We've eaten here a couple of times and the food has always been consistently good.

Went for a pre show meal which was a set menu but still had plenty of choice. The hosts/waiters were all fantastic and the food was lovely.

Excellent value pre-theatre menu, with so much food! Good drinks list as well.

Good value and an entertaining waiter.

This was meal for 10 lads and they catered very well for the group, service was prompt and friendly. The food was ok but not up to the standard of Mem Saab where I eat regularly.

Great food, great value and great service at Mogal-E-Azam! Recommended!

Once again, an excellent evening at Mogal-El-Azam. It was my daughter's birthday and the restaurant made it a really special occasion and even provided a birthday cake with a candle for her to blow out. Well done once again!

We experienced Mogal-El-Azam on the occasion of my son's birthday. The service was excellent and the food was superb. Altogether a very satisfactory evening.

Lovely traditional restaurant. Some nice touches and great traditional recipes. Would go again.

Traditional Indian restaurant. Attentive waiters. Lovely food.

Great place to dine. Had a very efficient and warm welcoming. The meals all came out on time and were hot, great tasting. Staff well presented and were very professional. nothing seemed to be much trouble. Certainly would recommend and would certainly return

Once again this place didn't disappoint. Lovely food and great service.

Absolutely fantastic evening with great company and good food, the staff are brilliant and really friendly. Thanks for a great evening!

The food was disappointing as it was full of peppers and not enough tender meat. Also the waiting staff were too attentive and 3 stood at the side of the table which made us feel uncomfortable.

Great food, great people at a good price.

Went on a stag night with 13 other guys and just wanted a quick curry as we had to be out after 1 hour. Excellent food, excellent service well looked after and all in just over 1 hour look forward to going back when I have more time.

It is great restaurant with first class serivce. We did find as we where a group of ten the serivce wasn't as friendly as it is normally. If you want a fantastic curry this is the place to go!!!

    An enjoyable pre-theatre meal experience.

Personally, I can't fault this restaurant. It maintains the high standards it has set down the years.
The food was excellent and plentiful and the service was attentive without being overpowering. The meal was good value and the Go Dine discount helped to lower the price. The restaurant still retains the traditional, authentic charm.

a very nice and friendly dining experience for all my family . very helpful staff served us a nice meal with advice along the way .....

I visited Mogal e Azam following many reviews and recommendations and I must say, from the start, the staff was very inviting and friendly. I booked the meal for ten of us and they were very accommodating. Wine flowing nicely, food was great and tasty and was not swimming in grease like other Indian restaurants previously been to. Food presented to our plates very well and all food came out hot. Only one problem with a meal is that one dish came with nuts after requesting no nuts. This was swiftly dealt with. Staff were having a laugh and joke and nothing appeared to be too much bother for them to do anything. Second problem was with the bill. This was an easy oversight as the restaurant was busy and we had paid a deposit prior to our arrival and they forgot to deduct off bill. Again this was swiftly dealt with. Great all round meal although only downside was I was expecting the curry to be hotter than what it was and therefore found it to be mild, ambience was just right, great atmosphere and Christmas spirit. Pricing very reasonable. Bill came to about £250 for 11 of us and a lot of alcohol consumed (about 15 bottles wine). Highly recommend to anyone.

    Great meal, really enjoyed it.

Food was nice. Service was good too. Good place to go after a night out in town.

We had a very pleasant evening the food was good the staff were very helpfull and friendly and would definately recommend to friends and family we will all be going there again soon.

First class food first class service , will reccommend it to my friends with confidence that they will also have a most enjoyable evening .

Me and my wife had a very enjoyable meal. It was a belated valentines day night out. The manager even came and spoke to us during our meal. Very friendly staff and very reasonably priced. We had 4 popadoms, pickle tray, a portion of rice between us, a main course, bacardi and coke for the wife, and I had a glass of wine. Total... £30.15

Fantastic food and will be returning!

The food here was great and all the guests enjoyed it. It's a lovely restaurant interior too. I would recommend it. A*

I recommend my friends to visit this restaurant

Good meal all round, will definately go back.

A lovely meal with excellent service. The ambience would have been better if it had been busier but it was a quiet Sunday lunchtime.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated with authentic Indian ornaments and a rich colour scheme featuring deep reds and luxurious gold. The authenticity is further accentuated by the waiters who are dressed in traditional attire. The Classical Indian music adds to the uplifting and buzzing atmosphere that Mogal-E-Azam have crafted: customers are always greeted with a warm welcome.

Mogal-E-Azam opened in 1977 and as a family-run restaurant; the owner prides himself on the use of his mother’s authentic recipes, distinguishable from the usual fare on offer in an Indian restaurant by the fresh and rich flavours: the restaurant is one of the only Indian restaurants in Nottingham to use a traditional Tandoor oven made from genuine Indian clay. With classically popular curry dishes such as Biryani, Rogan Josh, Dopiaza and Korma, all of which are available with a selection of different meats or a vegetarian option, you'll be spoilt for choice. The real stars come in the form of the house specialities which feature dishes such as curry fish, a dish packed with mackerel, monk fish, salmon, cod and either halibut or fresh tuna fried with green chillies, onion, garlic and coriander; and Akbari lamb tikka cooked with lean lamb with mushrooms and mango.

Students can enjoy a discount here. Please contact the restaurant for more information.

Able to seat up to 300 people and with a private hire function room available upstairs, Mogal-E-Azam is perfect for large parties and celebrations all the way down to couples looking for a delicious meal for two.
