Excellent food and very good value for money especially the early evening special for £14.95. Always choose this Indian in front of others where the prices reflect the surroundings but fall short on quality.

Nothing pretentious just ambient surroundings in a pleasant atmosphere with good friends and much preferred to some of the higher priced eateries that tell you they are the best when they are simply not! Well done Masala.

We arrived an hour before our table was booked at 8pm and where seated immediately. We had to wait for other people to arrive. We where halfway through our meals at 8:15 and they started to clear the table which was uncomfortable. We also did not receive exactly what we ordered. We felt it was worth the asking portions where larger than anticipated. Great restaurant but service needs to be more relaxed. Customers who have booked should take priority over those who walk in. Did not separate bill as requested leaving us totting up.

The food was served nice and hot. We all enjoyed the starters. My meal had lamb in it with a lot of sauce, and the lamb was a little tough, so I would not have that dish again. There were several loud diners nearby which made the place noisy unfortunately. I would definately go back again another time.

We say…

Masala can be found in the heart of Derby, on Curzon Street. This prime location is perfect for this exclusive Indian restaurant, as it is near landmarks such as the Derby Art Gallery and Museum, the Tourist Information Centre and Derby Cathedral if you’re unfamiliar with the city. Also, it’s within minutes of the intu Derby Shopping centre and all the main bars, pubs and shopping districts that the city has to offer, which is useful whether you’re a newcomer to the city or are just wanting somewhere to pop in after a weekend shopping or seeing friends, or even for a treat after work!

The space is perfect for a special occasion, or if you want to make an everyday meal into more of a unique treat. The restaurant is decorated in stylish black, white and cream colours and is chic in its design, with simple accents such as a shiny stainless steel bar in the corner setting it apart from other restaurants. Whether you arrive with just a couple of friends looking for a relaxing meal and a catch up, or are up for having a big celebration with a large party, you will receive faultless service and delicious food to complement your evening.

To begin your meal, order a few popadums while you browse the menu. We recommend the vegetarian starters of paneer chilli, as well as the bestselling vegetable pakoras. For a meaty starter, go for the shahi lamb, or try the spicy hot meal puri, served in a fluffy, freshly-baked bread. Masala is known for its tandoori specialities, so whether you enjoy chicken, lamb or fish go for the slow-cooked, lovingly marinated dishes cooked in a traditional clay tandoor oven, which seals in spice and flavour without drying out the meat. As a side dish, don’t forget to try some of the warm naan breads and yummy yogurt dips.

Masala is one of Derby’s premier Indian dining restaurants, so make it a priority to pay this establishment a visit the next time you’re in the city centre.
