Perched on the edge of the historical Sherwood Forrest, Launay’s Restaurant and Bar, Mansfield is a fine dining experience combining the very best of English and French cuisine. The beautiful Orangery and alfresco dining area overlook the quaint parish church of Edwinstowe, which legend holds as the marriage place of Robin Hood and Maid Marian.
Launay’s interior plays upon contrast with beautifully modern and stylish décor, a charming difference from its location so steeped in legend and history. Simple and sophisticated, the design of the restaurant creates an atmosphere of high class dining matched by the service and standard of food throughout. The mix of old and new is exquisitely executed by the use of the older part of the building, boasting exposed stonework walls and vintage-inspired wallpaper.
Each dish has been created by Head Chef Alain Launay and the menu is a delightful variety of classic French food and unique, innovative dishes. Launay’s is committed to using seasonal, local produce which just adds to the fresh and gorgeous tastes of what is available. The standard of food and presentation is outstanding, offering beautiful meals such as roasted rose veal loin or seared wild seabass with chorizo polenta. Often the restaurant’s desserts steal the show however, with playful options such as the decadent retro sweet shop; a platter of gingerbread men, white chocolate mice and other childhood indulgences. Choose from more traditional options too such as cheesecakes and tarts, or opt from your choice of cheeses with a cheese selection complimented by chutney and oatcakes.
Launay’s Restaurant and Bar is a wonderful place for casual evening meals, however its flavour of silver service lends itself perfectly to special occasions. As such, many couples choose to celebrate their weddings and anniversaries there. The restaurant also offers private bookings for weddings and special occasions for up to 65 guests.
