We say…

In the quaint and beautiful historic town of Ashbourne, Lamplight Restaurant is a firm local favourite, promising gorgeous food in stunning surroundings. Serving excellent English and French cuisine, Lamplight is perfect for intimate dinners and relaxed catch-ups with friends.

Housed within a building built in 1493, the premises was originally built as a coach house and then was a hostelry called the Tiger Inn. Still with all its original beams and features, the building is a beautiful venue steeped in history and full of character. An open wooden fireplace makes the restaurant feel cosy and welcoming, whilst wooden furniture retains the rustic feel of the area. With such a high standard of food and a lovely traditional interior, Lamplight restaurant is a truly special place to visit.

The menu relies on fresh, seasonal produce from local suppliers and so changes monthly. With each dish carefully planned and put together by expert, dedicated chefs, the Lamplight’s menu is one of the reasons the restaurant is such a favourite in the local community. An example of the wonderful food they have on offer is a mozzarella, Parma Ham and Sunblush tomato tartlet, served on a bed of mixed salad with a reduced balsamic dressing. Another example is a bacon, mushroom and chorizo salad, topped with a perfectly cooked poached egg. For your main, you can expect delicious dishes such as baked salmon fillet with mushrooms and rice in puff pastry with a creamy mushroom sauce, or oven baked chicken breast stuffed with Boursin cheese and wrapped in Parma ham, served on a bed of peas, shallots and bacon. For something a little different choose from one of their world inspired dishes, such as Moroccan Cannon of Lamb. To finish, there are plenty of gorgeous dessert options, including old favourites such as spicy plumb crumble, and fun alternatives such as a Trio of Sweets.

A beautiful restaurant full of character and charm, Lamplight Restaurant, Ashbourne is a stunning gem of a dining spot, perfect for French cuisine and English classics.
