We say…

The family-run restaurant La Vaca is situated on the bustling Glossop Road just outside of the main city centre in Sheffield. This Argentinian steakhouse is in the student area Broomhill, so it’s ideal to pop in to after visiting someone at university or if you just fancy a great meal.

Rodrigo and his wife Gloria aim to bring the fantastic taste of South American steak to the UK in La Vaca. Inside, you’ll be transported visually as well as gastronomically as the chic black, white and red colour scheme is offset by idiosyncratic Argentinian objects like cow hides and graphic artwork featuring the beautiful country and the cows that they are famous for. The space is warmly lit, and is a great setting for a long night eating, drinking and socialising with your friends and family.

Argentinian food is famous for one main reason: the steak. You won’t be disappointed with what’s on offer at La Vaca, as their beef is sourced from local Yorkshire cows and, when combined with Argentinian methods, ensures that these fresh steaks are packed with flavour. Choose from the rump, ribeye, sirloin, T-bone, or pan handle steaks and have it cooked just the way you like it. There’s plenty for everyone here, though, from the veggie options like stuffed Portobello mushrooms or halloumi skewers to the fresh and zingy salmon ceviche. Save room for the sides, too, as you won’t want to miss out of their famous espinacas en crema or the papitas picantes (creamy spinach and spicy sautéed potatoes.) Enjoy the great range of cerveza, too, as Latin-American options like Mexican Corona and Spanish San Miguel complement the meals perfectly.

If you want a unique experience of a lively Argentinian fiesta without having to stray out of Sheffield, then give La Vaca a try.
