Lovely little restaurant. The decor reminds me of my trip to Italy so I always feel very comfortable here!!
La Scala is a family-run restaurant situated in Millhouses; a charming neighbourhood found in south-west Sheffield. Serving classic Italian cuisine in a warm and rustic setting, it is the ideal place to enjoy a catch-up with friends or a family gathering.
Opened in 1999, the restaurant was named after the world famous La Scala in Milan, renowned for being one of the most beautiful opera houses in the world. Like its namesake, Sheffield’s La Scala features theatrical décor, with operatic artwork, vintage posters, and candle-lighting set against shades of red and gold. Everything about La Scala is cosy and welcoming, including the staff, who take real pride in taking care of every guest. The venue is built over two floors, with a basement restaurant that is wonderful for birthday parties, office parties or other special occasions.
From tagliatelle bolognese to neapolitan pizza, La Scala has it all. The menu is all-embracing and offers diners an excellent variety of Italian dishes including a divine chicken risotto cooked with mushrooms, fresh cream and a hint of tomato. The pizzaiola steak topped with melting mozzarella in a tomato, garlic, oregano, olive and red wine sauce is also a commendable choice. If that wasn’t enough, there is a regularly-updated ‘blackboard specials’ menu, where ingredients are freshly sourced and cooked to absolute perfection by a team of passionate and highly-skilled chefs. To top it all off, there is an extensive wine list with a selection of nicely-priced wines – the perfect companion to an Italian dinner.
With a fantastic combination of traditional and contemporary Italian dishes, La Scala has something to suit every taste. If you want to enjoy authentic Italian cooking in impressive surroundings, there is no better restaurant than La Scala in Sheffield.
