We say…

Japanese grills, small plates and sake to share near Old Market Square.

Kushi-Ya is the long-awaited permanent residence of two Nottingham chefs who could previously be found in the kitchens of highly-regarded local restaurants Iberico World Tapas and The Railway at Lowdham. Simon Carlin and Tom Clay then broke off to explore traditional Japanese cooking, first in the form of pop-up supper clubs.

Now joined by another promising young chef, Joseph Dalley, these days their exquisite Asian dishes are available to all from a restaurant mere steps away from the Old Market Square.

The cuisine on offer at Kushi-Ya is best described as Japanese tapas with a menu of snacks, small plates and skewers. Dishes include grilled edamame, crispy chicken skin with Szechwan pepper, tomato, smoked tofu & chilli oil and beef, black garlic mustard skewers.

For those of you with a sweet tooth, there are some really intriguing sounding desserts to dabble with at Kushi-Ya, too, such as Kinako fried waffle with white chocolate and shio koj.

The restaurant itself is simple, bright and elegant allowing the focus to remain solely on the food. You will find Kushi-Ya down a narrow alleyway off Angel Row, so keep your eyes peeled to spot it!

For an Asian meal like no other, book your table at Kushi-Ya today.
