We say…

Springing up in 2005, The Kayal Restaurant is conveniently located only a two minute walk from Leicester's central station on Granby Street and it offers an excellent choice for the regular traveler or commuter. The centrality of it's location means that Kayal can offer a perfect dining experience for those interested in attending one of the state of the art drama's hosted at the popular Curve Theatre, a mere 5 minutes walk away.

The Kayal Restaurant passionately delivers healthy and traditional cuisine from the coastal Kerala province of India. A family run business, the Kayal has consistently brought the popular Indian seafood dishes to the people of Britain and it continues to do so here in Leicester. The imaginatively decorated exterior of the building is complemented with a small outdoor seating area for those warmer summer evenings. The simple but homely interior offers a comfortable dining experience which avoids the  traditional trappings of other Indian restaurants. The Kayal in Leicester also offers a larger function room on the first floor of the building making it more suitable for larger events and parties.

Catering for everyone from business workers seeking a quick bite to eat between meetings around lunchtime, to those seeking a more in depth evening dining experience before heading to the theatre or local cinema venues. The Lunch time specials include interesting twists on Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten and Nut free options, with examples such as the stuffed aubergine served with a secret sauce and traditional sides. However, the really special dishes from the Kayal come fresh 'from the fisherman's net' such as the Tilapia Pollichathu which is straight from the Christian family mother's recipe book and has been handed down through the generations. This dish consists of the Tilapia fish wrapped in a specially made paste and wrapped in a banana leaf before being steam cooked and flavoured with a lemon seasoning.

Most recently visited by the popular TV duo 'The Hairy Bikers' as they attempted to turn their hand to traditional Keralan food, and reproduce it in the live setting of the Leicester restaurant. The Kayal also recently received the 'Healthiest Restaurant Award' proving that the family business is committed to delivering healthy but tasty dishes.

If your looking for a convenient, traditional and good value Indian restaurant based in the heart of Leicester the Kayal will surely over deliver. Catering for a wide range of dietary requirements, the Kayal Restaurant maintains the traditional and exciting flavours of the Indian coastal province with fresh and healthy ingredients with plenty of recommendations to boot. What else do you need?
