This is the second time we have visited and the meal, service and value for money were excellent again. We visited early evening and were the only diners hence the low score for ambiance. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Excellent food and good service as usual.
Excellent food and good friendly service.
Great food and excellent service!
Excellent tasty food.
Good food served by friendly/helpful staff
Gurkha express was amazing. Polite friendly but also gave diners space to have their own meal. Clean and very pleasant restaurant. The food was superb from the pompadoms to the main. Will definitely be booking again and the best thing is it's also a take away so if you don't feel like going out then order a take away. They deliver or you can order and collect. Price is a little more than elsewhere but the delicious Nepalese food certainly makes it worth it. We had a lovely Sunday evening in there and even though there were other diners, some with children it is big enough to have your own space and can easily hold a conversation. The take away was extremely busy but this didn't detract from our meal or service. The staff are delightful and said that on busy days they can do up to a hundred take always at a time. Best to book but not always necessary. Highly recommended and we shall definitely be going back next time we fancy a night out. Local so no long travel to and from and if need be we can always get a cab home after the bottles of Cobra beer. Nice little local eatery which we give 5 stars all round.
Tasty food with a good menu and choice of dishes, different to others locally.
second visit we took friends as we were impressed on our first they loved it. Well done, great night
Superb as always. Took my friend for his first visit and he was blown away.
Chicken momo (dumplings) followed by Gurkha Lamb and Gurkha special fried rice. Garlic naans (of course) . A hidden gem in Beeston that's right there on The High Road.
Based in the heart of the welcoming town of Beeston on the outskirts of Nottingham, Gurkha Express is a relatively new addition to the dining scene. Popping up in November 2015, this little Nepalese gem has not failed to impress the local patrons. Situated just off High Road, the main shopping street in Beeston it is perfect for those wanting to indulge with good Indian and Nepalese food within a lovely intimate venue.
Run by an accomplished team of experienced chefs, the Gurkha Express guarantees diners a very authentic experience. Executive chef Hira Sapokta has many years experience working with Indian and Nepalese foods as well as catering in some of the largest and most respected restaurants around the world. Sapokta has also had the honor of winning the 'Best Curry Chef in Manchester' Award.
As for the food at Gurkha Express the restaurant has kept it very simple with an A La Carte menu, but this means that the kitchen can produce some real excellent dishes! To start we would always recommend the Gurkhali Chili Fish a dish prepared with Fresh Tilapia, deep fried & mixed peppers, fresh chilies, garlic and hot sauce. Then for the main course we love the Gurkha Lamb Chhoyla where the lamb is barbequed with olive oil, Fenugreek seeds and Nepalese spices served on a bed of crispy rice. For the vegetarians out there we would highlight the Paneer Makhani, cubes of cottage cheese cooked with butter, coconut, ground nuts and a rich creamy tomato sauce. Whatever your particular tastes, The Gurkha Express is bound to satisfy with its impressive range of dishes!
Not far from Nottingham city centre, Beeston is full of friendly and welcoming restaurants and Gurkha Express has to be one of the best. So if you are looking for a friendly, intimate restaurant with good quality traditional Nepalese cooking then Gurkha Express is the perfect choice!
