We enjoyed our meal, lovely ambience and friendly staff.

We had a most enjoyable lunch and would like to eat there again.

Drive by George's on a weekly basis but have never been inside. Finally decided to book a table and I'm disappointed that I didn't visit sooner! The attention to detail is second to none and the food is absolutely delicious. Can't complain about one single thing! Perfect! Look forward to going again now I know what lies inside!

Georges offers an extensive menu on fine meats such as duck, rabbit, lamb, sea bass and salmon, all coming with fine sides. I had the lamb cutlets with fondant potato. The lamb was still pink in the middle and potatoes were expertly cooked. Everything was homemade from the tagliatelle to the marmalade! The welcome was warm and genuine as we walked in. A highly enjoyable meal with superb wine as well. Truly a fine dining experience.

We say…

With an enviable location in the picturesque village of Hathersage in Derbyshire's Peak District, George’s Restaurant is equally as beautiful as its surroundings. Situated in the very middle of the village on Main Road, The George Hotel really is a venue at the heart of the community, in more ways than one.

Retaining its 2 AA Rosette status since 2000, George’s Restaurant provides a delightful dining experience with top-class cuisine. The period building is absolutely stunning and upon entering the attractive reception area, guests are welcomed into a rustic haven. Boasting exposed stone walls, soft lighting and a roaring log fire, the restaurant has a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere that provides the perfect backdrop for a romantic dinner for two or a get together with family or friends. The in-house bar offers over 35 world-class whiskeys as well as a comprehensive wine list and a good selection of beers and soft drinks.

Producing food that would not look out of place in a London restaurant, George’s uses fresh, locally-sourced produce to create imaginative and beautiful dishes and, as if the flavour wasn’t enough, absolutely everything is home-made from the bread and the pasta to the relishes, petit-fours and ice-cream! When seasonally available you can except to find dishes such as confit of free-range pork shoulder served with peas pudding, curly kale, apple cider sauce and black treacle gravy; lamb cutlets presented with a sensational Lamb Wellington on a potato fondant base; and poached salmon and herb noisettes with sautéed Scotch langoustines, croquette potatoes and a fennel and ginger cream. Alongside the a la carte menu you will also find a very reasonably priced early evening and lunch time menu, making George’s the ideal venue to stop for a bite to eat, any time of the day.

George’s Restaurant at The George Hotel in Hathersage, Derbyshire, is a spectacular venue that will provide a memorable meal, any time of the day. Booking a table is highly recommended due to the popularity of this restaurant.
