We say…

Just outside the city centre, on Commercial Road, you will find a small yet perfectly formed, family-run restaurant; Gallery FortyOne. This Mediterranean bistro first opened its doors to the public in 2011 and in this time has developed a loyal and loving customer base.

The owners have done a fantastic job of creating an intimate and welcoming atmosphere inside the restaurant. The interior is softly lit and the combination of wood and marble creates a homely, rustic feel. Large abstract prints adorn the walls whilst strategically placed plant pots and a faux grape vine winding round the archway to the kitchen add an understated nod to the traditional Mediterranean taverna. An old stove is tucked into an alcove and covered in candles, as is a beautiful wood and stone fireplace further enhances the intimate and warm ambience that this restaurant exudes.

The menu offers a delectable range of simple Mediterranean dishes with a good balance of pasta, risotto, pizza, meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Starters range from duck liver pate to bruschetta, soup of the day and classic Italian antipasto. The gamberoni comes highly recommended for seafood lovers as the combination of fresh, sweet prawns, garlic, fresh chillies, white wine and butter sauce is a real treat for the taste buds. The main courses are served in generous, typically Mediterranean, portions, ensuring that no diner is left hungry. For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert menu will prove too hard to resist with devilish treats such as the daime bar-topped toffee crunch pie, chocolate fudge cake and raspberry Eaton mess dance across the page. A modest wine list is written on a blackboard over the bar and you will find a bottle to suit every budget and taste.

It is not only the food that attracts diners to Gallery FortyOne; the service is efficient, friendly and laid-back without laissez-faire.  Combine this with the unobtrusive, easy-listening music that plays softly in the background and you have the perfect recipe for a relaxing evening meal to be enjoyed with friends and family. If you are looking to unwind after a hard week at work or are simply just looking for a hearty plate of something delicious Gallery FortyOne in Leeds is most definitely the place to head for.
