Debra Rowley –
A good meal, a nice place.
-
Mrs Linda Gill –
Yet another excellent meal at French Living, ate off the Carte du Jour this time, and both my sisters mini burgers and my chicken in Diane sauce was simple but truly delicious, had the coffee cake with ice cream just right, not too sweet. The service was also excellent, the staff are very friendly and attentive. Table wine good and priced just right. Highly recommend.
-
Laura Smart –
Absolutely gorgeous pre-theatre meal. Really tasty.
-
Rose Littlewood –
The food was very bland. Nice atmosphere. One of us didn't have a set menu, alternative very poor value for ordinary food. Restaurant not full but had to wait a very long time even after mentioning wait to the waitress.

Really nice place. -

A lovely, local restaurant. The food was very good, had the set menu and the Brandade was excellent. The staff are friendly, great atmosphere. We went on a Saturday lunchtime and it was busy, so would recommend booking.
-
George Dunn –
Staff brilliant as always plus food spot on for pre-theatre.
A really nice bottle of well priced French wine. -
Nigel Eggleton –
Another most enjoyable meal. The vegetable selection was good and the plum and almond tart was equally pleasant. A better quality of coffee would be appreciated.
-
Christine Hanby –
This is not my first online booking but is my first review. We have been to this restaurant several times recently; it is five-star for everything.
-
Jonathan Harte –
Lovely Pre-theatre meal for 2
Delicious cauliflower soup and pork terrine starters
Then chicken and black pudding starters with fresh veg.
Perfect quantities and good value. -
Sarah Finley –
The meal was lovely, the staff were very attentive but were very quietly spoken so was quite difficult to catch what they were saying.
It was very light in the restaurant so the ambiance was not great. Could have done with less light and maybe a few candles on the tables.
Overall we were impressed, will definitely visit again. -
Mrs Susan Taylor –
Very tasty Galettes - baguettes very filling. We visited at lunchtime so fairly quiet & service was good. Will return.
-
Dariusz Szymanski –
We spent a lovely evening in the restaurant. Food was great as well as the service. We will definitely be back again.
-
Charles Mcnicol –
They say that the traditional French Bistro is an endangered species in France. But it is alive and well in King Street Nottingham! All 7 of us enjoyed our recent meal there. The menu provided plenty of choices for each course and was of great value. Non-meat eaters are well catered for.
-
Davina Cook –
My friend and I really enjoyed the food and service we had at French Living in Nottingham. We both rated it 5/5***** and said it is top of our list of where we have eaten in Nottingham so far over the last 4 -5 years... Keep up the pleasant service!
-
Pauline Pemberton –
As always a tasty steak frites from the pre-theatre menu and a delicious apricot tart to follow. A lovely reminder of eating in France and a good spot for the Theatre Royal.
-
Mrs Susan Taylor –
We went as a group of friends who meet up for lunch every couple of months. Very nice staff, food good with good choice - we usually only have a light lunch so mostly chose from baguettes & crepes. Baguettes very filling but can take home but bit pricey in my mind. Will return again.
-
Tracey Coull –
Could not fault the quality of the food or the service. Definitely visiting again.
-
Kevin Brunt –
Authentic French food, super service, relaxed atmosphere. A treat! Highly recommended.
-

As ever a thoroughly enjoyable lunchtime experience. The haddock in a mushroom sauce was splendid as was the apple tart for dessert. We’ll be back.

French Living has a relaxed atmosphere. It's not a cheap place to find but the food is amazing. The service was great. I would recommend to anyone.

Great food, served quickly and the creme brûlée was to die for!
-
Margaret Burton –
Very french atmosphere and food was excellent. Very attentive service. One criticism, girl obviously wasn't aware of this booking, perhaps hadn't looked at computer. We didn't get a very good table for two. Much too close to next table for two!
-

-
Mrs Linda Gill –
One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Venison superb, vegetables all cooked perfectly, and my friend had the rabbit casserole which was also superb. We ended our meal with the Cafe Gourmand which is a small selection of 4 different desserts with coffee. All really scrummy. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful with advice on the various options available. For people who want a taste of France, and love well cooked food that has been expertly prepared will not be disappointed with this restaurant. Also like France, if you do not require a full bottle of wine, one can order a carafe of house wine at a very reasonable price, which is also very good.
-
Sue Martin –
The meal was nice although the beef/steak was very chewy and the waitress didn't seem bothered just shrugged and said sorry
-
Ruth Brasier –
This is my 3rd visit and it is always very good value, the service is excellent and the food is tasty, nothing to much trouble.
-
Martin Lithgow –
French Living is quite simply one of the best, friendliest restaurants around. The food is always cooked to perfection, the atmosphere is authentically French and the service is friendly but not obtrusive. If you want to eat in a cosy little characterful restaurant, then you need to look no further.
-
Andrew Tinsley –
Excellent meal and service as always.
-
David Jones –
The service, though friendly, was slow. We had to ask for the final course and the bill, in order to make it to the concert hall on time. The food was rather mediocre, with a curious combination of salad and sprouts with our main course. Unlikely to go again.
-
Fiona Randle –
Reasonable but not great. There to celebrate a special birthday but felt the restaurant was pushed to serve the number of covers they had due to a large party downstairs - a point mentioned more than once by the waitress as an excuse for the lack of bread! Sadly not as good as I remember it from previous visits a few years ago.
-
Ruth Brasier –
The service was very good, the food was tasty, I would recommend you to try for the lunchtime deal.
-
Patricia Parker –
What a lovely evening, a super Christmas menu, friendly staff and not in the least bit hurried. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at French Living.
-
Julie Sumner –
Another lovely evening at French Living. Always get a warm welcome. Love that we can have good food served quickly for pre-theatre, but also can take our time for a leisurely evening meal with good wines.
-
Evdokia Samara –
It was the most perfect experience we’ve had in a long time!! We always go to YAMAS, because of the exceptionally high standards that the restaurant has. But this time we thought we would “risk” trying French Living, and were so very glad we did. The whole dinner was an exceptional experience. The gentleman and young lady serving us were the best customer service providers ever. There are not enough good words to express how happy and grateful we are with this experience. We most definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who truly appreciates fine dining. Thank you French Living, you have earned two more loyal customers.
-
Barry Holgate –
Meal for 7. The party composed of 5 French Living virgins. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, the service and the price. Excellent night. Thank you
-
Nicola Warren –
We were a party of 10 who all enjoyed the evening, the food, as usual, was superb as was the service.
We will be back soon! -

-
Steve Thompson –
Excellent food as usual and great staff. Always a great evening.
-
Sue Rafferty –
Amazing
-
Margaret Murphy –
We didn't like the way the tip was included, we think a tip is at the customer's discretion. Besides that, the food was very good and the staff attentive. A very pleasant ambience
-
Helga Edwards –
We had the early evening meal and everything was delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. We will definitely go again. Perfect for a pre or after theatre trip. Recommend this restaurant.
-
Penny Williams –
Pre theatre meal. Lovely food and service
-
Jerry Pharoah –
Great pre-theatre meal with a good bottle of red!
-
Steve Lgg –
Lovely service, nice pre theatre deal.
-
Brian King –
Lived up to expectation. Nothing special but equally nothing disappointing. Strange to have a menu referring to choices on a blackboard when the staff have to tell customers what is available and would be on the blackboard were it there!
-
Elizabeth Veazey –
Very attentive and helpful staff. Food was tasty and well presented, the wine was excellent. A lovely meal!
-
Richard Mccarthy –
We had a lovely meal, food and service was second to none, the staff could not have been better. We will be returning again. Thank you all.
-
Ian Hayward –
We were happy with the experience.
Thought that automatically adding a discretionary 10% service charge to the bill was a bit naughty. -
Roger Brooks –
We hadn’t been to French Living for a while but we should have been judging by our experience on this visit!
Superb food, excellent but unobtrusive service and no loud background music. Thoroughly recommended. -
Stephanie Hargreaves –
Delicious fresh food and superb service.
-
Ruth Holden –
We had a lovely time celebrating a friend's Birthday, everyone enjoyed their meals (especially the desserts!) and was all relatively inexpensive. A shame about the toilets as it left the rest of the experience down...

We say…
If Paris is just too far away, you can sample a fine taster of all France has to offer by stepping into French Living on Nottingham city centre's King Street - just up from the Brian Clough Statue.
The restaurant is like a little capsule of France transported straight from over the channel and filled to the brim with the very things that make dining on the continent a delight.
Expect classic French cuisine such as Cassoulet Toulousain, a rich, meaty dish with duck confit, Toulouse sausage, and cured pork or Filet de Colin au Vin rouge; a fillet of hake oven-baked and served with a red wine, butter and stock jus.
This beautiful two-level restaurant complete with red-brick cellar is also home to a wine and cheese counter and a classic boulangerie; your one-stop-shop for all things French.
