Authentic French food, super service, relaxed atmosphere. A treat! Highly recommended.

As ever a thoroughly enjoyable lunchtime experience. The haddock in a mushroom sauce was splendid as was the apple tart for dessert. We’ll be back.

Attended for their Discovery Evening, which was really good fun. Excellent authentic food, paired with delicious wines. An excellent night.

    Enjoyed the meal very much

Been a few times now always a great meal and great service.

Very enjoyable meal with friendly and helpful staff.

French Living has a relaxed atmosphere. It's not a cheap place to find but the food is amazing. The service was great. I would recommend to anyone.

A perfect place to experience a little piece of France.

Not up to French Living's usual high standards.

    Love it here so authentic

Great food, served quickly and the creme brûlée was to die for!

Very french atmosphere and food was excellent. Very attentive service. One criticism, girl obviously wasn't aware of this booking, perhaps hadn't looked at computer. We didn't get a very good table for two. Much too close to next table for two!

Wonderful meals, well priced. Menu changes often. Nice quiet atmosphere. Quick and friendly service..
    Close the theatres

We really enjoyed our early pre show dinner . Great food and service . We’ll be back

Delicious traditional french cuisine served in relaxed ambience, great value for money on an early evening menu

Tasty food but unfortunately wasn’t hot enough. This was dealt with promptly after speaking to waiter

Excellent value pre-theatre meal, with an excellent choice of dishes. Really enjoyed the steak. And their house red wine is so easy-drinking!

Nice traditional French style pre theatre menu. Recommended.

Pleasant evening good food. Service a bit slow but nice staff.

Thanks for the booking. The food was fantastic we will be back for sure !!

Quiet night. Great menu: good choices of wine, Digestifs Erc. Breton Cidre too! Went for the Gastronomique and not disappointed. Will book again.

Great ambience and intimate atmosphere, staff attentive and food very tasty.

One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Venison superb, vegetables all cooked perfectly, and my friend had the rabbit casserole which was also superb. We ended our meal with the Cafe Gourmand which is a small selection of 4 different desserts with coffee. All really scrummy. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful with advice on the various options available. For people who want a taste of France, and love well cooked food that has been expertly prepared will not be disappointed with this restaurant. Also like France, if you do not require a full bottle of wine, one can order a carafe of house wine at a very reasonable price, which is also very good.

The meal was nice although the beef/steak was very chewy and the waitress didn't seem bothered just shrugged and said sorry

This is my 3rd visit and it is always very good value, the service is excellent and the food is tasty, nothing to much trouble.

French Living is quite simply one of the best, friendliest restaurants around. The food is always cooked to perfection, the atmosphere is authentically French and the service is friendly but not obtrusive. If you want to eat in a cosy little characterful restaurant, then you need to look no further.

Excellent meal and service as always.

The service, though friendly, was slow. We had to ask for the final course and the bill, in order to make it to the concert hall on time. The food was rather mediocre, with a curious combination of salad and sprouts with our main course. Unlikely to go again.

Reasonable but not great. There to celebrate a special birthday but felt the restaurant was pushed to serve the number of covers they had due to a large party downstairs - a point mentioned more than once by the waitress as an excuse for the lack of bread! Sadly not as good as I remember it from previous visits a few years ago.

The service was very good, the food was tasty, I would recommend you to try for the lunchtime deal.

What a lovely evening, a super Christmas menu, friendly staff and not in the least bit hurried. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at French Living.

Another lovely evening at French Living. Always get a warm welcome. Love that we can have good food served quickly for pre-theatre, but also can take our time for a leisurely evening meal with good wines.

It was the most perfect experience we’ve had in a long time!! We always go to YAMAS, because of the exceptionally high standards that the restaurant has. But this time we thought we would “risk” trying French Living, and were so very glad we did. The whole dinner was an exceptional experience. The gentleman and young lady serving us were the best customer service providers ever. There are not enough good words to express how happy and grateful we are with this experience. We most definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who truly appreciates fine dining. Thank you French Living, you have earned two more loyal customers.

Meal for 7. The party composed of 5 French Living virgins. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, the service and the price. Excellent night. Thank you

We were a party of 10 who all enjoyed the evening, the food, as usual, was superb as was the service.
    We will be back soon!

    We have a great experience.

Pre-theatre menu excellent value and speedy service which means you get to the theatre with time to spare.

Excellent food as usual and great staff. Always a great evening.

    Amazing

We didn't like the way the tip was included, we think a tip is at the customer's discretion. Besides that, the food was very good and the staff attentive. A very pleasant ambience

We had the early evening meal and everything was delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. We will definitely go again. Perfect for a pre or after theatre trip. Recommend this restaurant.

Pre theatre meal. Lovely food and service

Great pre-theatre meal with a good bottle of red!

Lovely service, nice pre theatre deal.

Lived up to expectation. Nothing special but equally nothing disappointing. Strange to have a menu referring to choices on a blackboard when the staff have to tell customers what is available and would be on the blackboard were it there!

Very attentive and helpful staff. Food was tasty and well presented, the wine was excellent. A lovely meal!

We had a lovely meal, food and service was second to none, the staff could not have been better. We will be returning again. Thank you all.

We were happy with the experience.
Thought that automatically adding a discretionary 10% service charge to the bill was a bit naughty.

We hadn’t been to French Living for a while but we should have been judging by our experience on this visit!
Superb food, excellent but unobtrusive service and no loud background music. Thoroughly recommended.

Delicious fresh food and superb service.

We had a lovely time celebrating a friend's Birthday, everyone enjoyed their meals (especially the desserts!) and was all relatively inexpensive. A shame about the toilets as it left the rest of the experience down...

We say…

If Paris is just too far away, you can sample a fine taster of all France has to offer by stepping into French Living on Nottingham city centre's King Street - just up from the Brian Clough Statue.

The restaurant is like a little capsule of France transported straight from over the channel and filled to the brim with the very things that make dining on the continent a delight.

Expect classic French cuisine such as Cassoulet Toulousain, a rich, meaty dish with duck confit, Toulouse sausage, and cured pork or Filet de Colin au Vin rouge; a fillet of hake oven-baked and served with a red wine, butter and stock jus.

This beautiful two-level restaurant complete with red-brick cellar is also home to a wine and cheese counter and a classic boulangerie; your one-stop-shop for all things French.
