Lying in between the bustling city centre in Sheffield and the scenic Peak District is a restaurant which combines chic city style with great country food and looks – the Florentine. It’s perfectly situated along the A57, so if you’re in the city or National Park you should make the time to stop in here for a fresh, delicious meal prepared expertly in gorgeous surroundings.
In pride of place in the kitchen is the imported pizza oven, ‘where the magic happens’ according to the notice on the front. You can see the chefs prepare a variety of food here, which gives dishes a great barbecue-smoked tang. An amazing amount of care and detail has been put into the recently refurbished restaurant area, which features quirky accents such as Penguin classics wallpaper and bookcases set into rustic oak-panelled walls, mixed with luxurious velvet furniture and beautiful table settings. This is certainly a place to go for a special occasion, whether it be an intimate anniversary meal or a lively birthday do.
When it comes to the main event, the food, you’ll be spoilt for choice at the Florentine. To start with, try the delicious marinated duck skewers with a sticky plum dressing roasted in the charcoal oven, or go for a decadent sharing platter of baked Camembert with sourdough toast and the restaurant’s own sticky onion jam. For your main, we love the selection of amazing 28-day aged steak, from the tender fillet to the rich flat-iron cut. Or you could opt for the yummy hand-battered fish and chunky chips. Save room for dessert, though; you’ll love the apple and butterscotch crumble or the gorgeously unusual coconut panna cotta, served with grilled pineapple, lime salsa and a scoop of toasted coconut ice cream. There’s even great kid’s options, too, like the tasty BBQ chicken, so you can keep everyone happy.
The Florentine is a fantastic pub, restaurant, hotel and bar all in one. The team here value customer experience highly, so if you book a meal here you certainly won’t be disappointed.
