The New Ellington is located in the quieter business district just to the West of the Millenium Square on York Place in Leeds. The peaceful ambience encourages diners to take time over their meal and really soak up the rich plum and chocolate décor. Glints of gold and tables dressed in crisp white linen will full silver service add a touch of luxury to the main dining room, completing the opulent theme that runs throughout The New Ellington.

Serving British classics using fresh, British produce, every item on the menu speaks volumes and is calling out to be sampled. When seasonally available, dishes such as the home-smoked Beverly duck breast served with duck heart and crispy caper salad, beetroot sponge and orange mayonnaise; award-winning Kimberley red aged sirloin steak; and half a roast young chicken, crayfish and potato pie are all excellent choices. If you simply can’t decide then the friendly and knowledgeable staff at Digby's at the New Ellington can guide you through any of the menu options and are well-equipped to make recommendations.

    Overall:

The restaurant was quiet and peaceful and our waiter were very polite and attentive. The homemade cheeseburger I had was very perfect! Very flavourful. And the chips were really tasty too! Have already recommended Digby's at The New Ellington to my friends.

    Overall:

Excellent from the gin bar pre dinner drinks to the dessert. We would have ranked the service higher except that they were short staffed, however the staff they did have on duty were doing their best. The food was imaginative, very high quality, well presented and worthy of their 2 rosettes. The canapes and vegetarian dishes were high points. We left with smiles on our faces and will be back if we are in the area. James and Kim Brown.

    Overall:

This was the first time I had dined in this restaurant. I was very pleasantly surprised by both the quality of the cooking and the value for money compared to other establishments in Leeds. The starters - queenie scallops with risotto and pig cheeks with black pudding were well executed and showed real ambition by the kitchen. The mains were also good and the portions ample, especially the whole sea bass which was a very large one. In my opinion this is right up there with the best restaurants in Leeds if you want a degree of sophistication in the cooking.

    Overall:

Monday evening at 6pm is possibly not the best time to visit for ambience but the decor in the New Ellington is very modern and relaxing. Also we were wanting an early meal prior to visiting the theatre so we had to remind staff that we were in a hurry. Staff were very polite and worked to meet our deadline. The food was excellent especially the Yorkshire menu - beautifully presented and very tasty. Portions were good too and overall it was a very good experience and worthy of a return visit.
