I had a nice pre-match meal & drinks as well as good service.

We had Sunday lunch here and the food was delicious, served by a very attentive waiter. Could not find fault in either presentation or quality of food served.

    Lovely food and service.

Nice food and very friendly quick service and some great beers to compliment the meal.

On arrival, it was not clear where to go and who to speak to to get seated. The bar was crowded and we were ignored by the staff who were busy serving others. The restaurant room had no staff at all when we arrived, just diners. Finally, we saw a girl rushing around with orders. We stopped her to let her know that we have a reservation. She showed us to our table, explained the menu and special offers and took our drink orders. We didn't have to wait long for the drinks. She took our food orders and even advised us to share an extra bowl of side salad as it is big enough for two. The food was with us within 10-15min and it was very delicious. I had a chicken burger with sweet potato wedges, everything was fresh and the portions were good. The waitress stopped to check if we were happy with everything and we had to remind her about our second order of drinks.
Overall we were happy with the food. The waitress was lovely but she could definitely use some help as it was busy on a Wednesday night and she was serving the whole room on her own, she was rushing around and we had to stop her with her hands full to get her attention. Not a bad place, it's a pub with very traditional decor. I can see ourselves returning for a meal there but it wouldn't be my first choice, based purely on my personal preferences for a meal out. The menu and the location are good.

The food and service were excellent! I will definitely go again.

    Awful food very small portions.

Six at a table, five meals brought out, it wasn’t busy so no idea why the waiting staff were so flustered. Decided to ask when five us had finished our meals if we needed any condiments, not going again as it was nothing special.

The online booking didn’t inform me that to take my seat for my Sunday lunch that I would have to negotiate two flights of stairs. Having breathing difficulties I would not have taken the booking if I’d of known. However, I decided to give the steep stairs a go. So pleased I did. I enjoyed my meal in nice & friendly surroundings (by the way mashed potatoes should be a given, not charged as a side dish) I enjoyed my meal and a young waiter (Brendon I believe) ran up & downstairs to fetch our requirements with a smile when he left and a smile when he came back. I found all the staff friendly without being matey and I really enjoyed my meal in the surroundings keep up the good work & please put the mash on the main meal.

    Very good.

We really enjoyed our meal at the cross keys.
Just made our booking whilst on the bus into the city.

The rump steaks were excellent. Had medium rare and they were all cooked perfectly. Four of us went and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Our waiter was lovely. He went out of his way to look after us. We will definitely be returning.

Always enjoy meals at the Cross Keys, excellent staff & good weather to sit outside.

This was a family lunch and we chose here because of the good reviews and extensive menu to suit three generations of different tastes. Also, it is 1 minutes walk away from the tram which suited my mum as she doesn't walk too well. The service was excellent as was the food. Plenty of choice for everyone including vegan. My son said that it was the best fish he had ever had and my daughter and I had the beetroot burger which was really good. In fact everyone really enjoyed their food and we will certainly return when we are in the area.

Not an.extensive menu, but the food we had was good, service was good and friendly, bit cool when the door opened from outside, but overall good and I will call again.

Lovely meal lovely place and friendly service from all the staff.
Highly recommend and will visit again when we are next in Nottingham!

I had the cod with mash & cream of leeks. Delicious. My other half had the roast chicken which he thought was not worth the price of £11. We had booked a table but opted to sit outside as it was a warm day, maybe this was why we had lousy service, having to wait ages before we saw a waitress. The lemon meringue cheesecake was quite nice - don’t be put off by the lurid green/yellow colour! Don’t think we will be back.

A group lunch, two had the beef pie and both agreed it was the best pub pie they had ever had. My ploughman's was ok, scotch egg very rubbery but everything else was nice. HUGE wedges with the toasties. Pleasant and friendly staff

Had such a lovely Easter meal, great friendly service, food piping hot and very tasty. Will be visiting again soon.

Had Sunday lunch with my two sisters. We arrived 12.30 which was good because place filled up fast after that. Food was ok, nothing to write home about but no wow factor either. Starters and mains were ok. My sisters had pudding one a chocolate brownie was a little dry and by contrast the other had Eton Mess which was a blob of cream with some very mushy fruit on top and a few bits of meringue sprinkled on top. Not impressed. Would probably eat here again just wouldn't have dessert. Service was fine.

Had a great meal before Saturday's panthers game, doesn't disappoint every time I've been. Highly recommended.

Meal was good & had a laugh with the bar man.

    Great, I will return

Delicious menu, more like a restaurant than standard pub. Very impressive. The crumble for dessert is delicious!

Some of the main course was a little lukewarm, but the gravy was hot, which made up for that. The steak and ale pie had thick, meaty chunks. The cheese and biscuits was of a good standard, with plenty of butter. The staff were attentive and friendly.

Nice pub, friendly staff and good beer although not really impressed with the Sunday lunch. I had pork loin, I assume the crackling surrounding it should have been crispy rather than chewy fat. The stuffing ball was a very strange affair and certainly not of a sage and onion variety, very 'claggy'. The Roast potatoes weren't really roasted, sort of boiled and shown a roasting tin. The Yorkshire pudding was a bit of a chewy pancake type thing, can't fault the veg other than the preoccupation venues seem to have with pickled red cabbage. Don't know if we caught them on a bad day, but I've certainly had better

A friendly greeting at The Cross Keys and smooth efficient service. Our steaks were juicy and tasty with a generous portion of rustic chips. The peppercorn sauce was plentiful and tangy.

A delicious Sunday roast in a relaxed atmosphere at The Cross Keys! Great service too.

A good Sunday lunch, food and service was excellent value for money

Delicious pub food at The Cross Keys. Quite a small menu, but very well cooked. I'd highly recommend the chicken burger!

Helpful pleasant staff at the Cross Keys pub and great food. The menu is small but as they say less is more, the meals we had were stunning and great value. It is a pub so the atmosphere is not really ideal for having a meal (we went on a Friday night so a lot of people in and quite loud) but its a nice old traditional pub which is nice in its own right. Wide selection of drinks available. Would certainly visit again.

Very disappointing. One of us who had beef - medium it was so tough that we sent it back. Rare beef not much better. Vegetables not brilliant.

The Cross Keys downstairs leaves much to be desired but once you are upstairs in the restaurant you forget what's happening downstairs. There was a Valentine's meal and the offer included a glass of Prosecco each. We were seated on time and a friendly young waiter took our order. Once the order had been taken, the waiter returned with our Prosecco. The food was absolutely fabulous. We have eaten in some high class restaurants where the menu/food hasn't been this good. We could hear other diners saying how good the food was. We were very impressed and we will return to the Cross Keys.

The Cross Keys offered a really nice alternative to where I normally take my partner for Sunday Lunch. The menu was pleasant and the service was really efficient. Definitely recommend The Cross Keys for a good Sunday Lunch in Nottingham.
