Tucked away in Kislingsbury, just 4 miles outside of Northampton town centre,  The Cromwell Cottage is a beautiful country pub, fantastic because you don’t have to travel out of the way from the city to get here. Take a walk by the River Nene before stopping by for some delicious food to unwind. This relaxing village pub is well worth a visit for city dwellers wanting to get away, so bring along your partner or family for a pleasant escape.

The Cromwell Cottage is housed within a historic building, used by Oliver Cromwell as a hideout in the 1600s. Beautifully restored, it still has classic features, with a red brick exterior and a cosy interior. The bar area has comfortable armchairs and a warming ambience, while the dining area is lavishly decorated, with pattered green dining chairs that add a contemporary ambience. With two al fresco dining areas, relaxed benches that are great if you’re grabbing a drink and lovely tables that allow for a true dining experience, there’s enough choice to ensure that this restaurant is suitable for all occasions.

The Cromwell Cottage offer a variety of options, with a choice of lunch, dinner, Sunday lunch and a special children’s menu to ensure there’s something for everyone. A meal here might begin with a Box-Baked Camembert to share if you’re dining with a group or Scallops of the Day if you’re ordering individual starters and fancy some fresh seafood. Main courses include a King Prawn, Crab and Chorizo Linguine, a flavoursome pasta dish with a chilli kick, and a Mushroom, Feta and Onion Tart served with a fresh side salad. For something lighter, order the Seasonal Salad, with the option to add indulgent lobster tail if you want something more substantial.
