The starters that both myself and my husband had were delicious. I had oak smoked salmon and my husband sardines cooked with garlic and tomatoes. We both had brill for our mains that was cooked to perfection. Welcomed as soon as we stepped inside. So glad we chose to eat here in celebration of my 60th birthday!!

The staff were very polite and nothing was enough trouble for them. The food was out of this world. The salmon starter was best I've had in a long time and the steak knife cut through the steak with ease. Good quality produce and locally sourced. My partner had tarte and she said she loved every bite. If I'm back in buxton I'll be booking up again for sure. My opinion best restaurant in town. In visiting book up here. You won't be disappointed.

Mr Roger Hyland –
An excellent pre-theatre dining experience at Columbine, a quiet, relaxing restaurant, where the background music not at all intrusive; full marks for that!
The meal was first class, (as it has been on previous visits), and was served by friendly, attentive staff.
Dining here before the theatre/opera gives one the feeling of two nights out in one: First a superb 'meal out' followed by a good evening's entertainment. -

Found this little gem by scouring the internet, and was baffled as to how I have never been to this place before. Made to feel very welcome as soon as we walked in, the head-waiter helped us find some dishes we could have due to allergies, and was sorted very efficiently. Enjoyed the gressingham duck and particularly the desserts, which looked divine. Am looking forward to making this our top restaurant. Would recommend very highly.

Set within the stunning Peak District countryside of Derbyshire, you will find a picturesque market town by the name of Buxton which plays host to the privately-run Columbine Restaurant. Situated on Hall Bank, Columbine boasts a convenient location between Market Place and the Opera House, offering residents and visitors alike a brilliant pre or post-theatre meal as well as acting as the perfect base from which to explore
Kim McNally and her husband Steve took over in 1997 and have made Columbine a real delight to dine at. Offering diners several different dining experiences, this venue is suitable for all occasions. On the ground floor, guests are welcomed into a peaceful haven decorated in gentle lilacs and pale woods that provides the perfect backdrop for a special family celebration or a relaxed dinner. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet comfortable, a trait that is continued in the cellar dining room. Perfectly decorated to create an intimate ambience, the cellar dining room is ideal for romantic dinners. Complete with stone and brick walls that have been painted cream to make the room feel bright, a stone floor and pale woods, the cellar is cosy yet contemporary.
