In the heart of Chesterfield, just a stone’s throw from the train station, is COCO bar and bistro. It’s nearby Chesterfield landmarks such as the crooked spire, Chesterfield Museum and Queens Park, so whether you’re new to the city or have lived here your whole life, it’s a breeze to find. It’s even near all the central bars and pubs in case you fancy continuing your night after your meal, but is close to all the central roads and public transport stations if you want to call it a night after a fantastic dinner.
The exterior is unmissable; a solid slab of black with the restaurant’s name accompanied by a brick tower, with a terrace before it for al fresco dining. Inside, the décor is similarly chic and relaxed, with solid wooden tables contrasting stylishly with pitted black leather sofas. It’s a venue that lends itself well to important events like office parties, as well as being well suited to romantic date nights, as the staff will make you feel well looked after.
You can order from the bar menu, which includes favourites such as fish and chips, tagliatelle and meatballs, and feta salads, which are perfect for if you’re feeling peckish or want something to go with your drinks. The main menu focuses on modern British tapas, so we’d recommend sharing between plenty of you so you can try everything on offer. We really love the mini rack of BBQ ribs, and the coriander and chickpea tagine with Greek yogurt. Alternatively, go for something from the grill menu, with 28 day aged steak. Try the 8oz rib eye steak or a delicious burger with spicy Mexican cheese and chilli sauce. Other mains include a balsamic shallot and goats cheese tart, complete with roasted vine tomatoes and chickpea casserole.
Whether it’s for drinks and nibbles or a full meal, you should make COCO bar and bistro high on your list of places to visit in Chesterfield.
