Victoria Murtland –
The meal was very nice but unfortunately, we were the only people eating in the restaurant which we found rather strange no ambience what so ever.

Diane Kitchen –
Unfortunately not a very good experience the food was ok but the service was shocking really, it seemed an unexpected member of staff was left alone to serve our table and she had zero personality, we ended up having to go to the bar for our drinks as she didn’t ask us for our drinks order, overall very dissatisfied as myself and my husband were treating our son & partner.

My partner and I came to The Claret Jug on the evening of the 21st February. It was his 50th birthday. The food and service was excellent and we both enjoyed a lovely relaxed evening.

We say…
Situated within the magnificent grounds of Oulton Hall, a beautiful 18th-century mansion converted into a five star hotel, is The Claret Jug. With spectacular views over the 18th hole of the golf course, this restaurant never fails to impress. Easily accessible from junction 30, off the M62 and junction 44 off the M1, it's the perfect setting for gatherings of family and friends.
Housed within a wooden building, The Claret Jug looks unremarkable from the outside: once you step inside however, you can understand why they have chosen the understated exterior. What has been created is a welcoming and stylishly rustic venue that almost mimics a Highland retreat. It's a relaxing, informal restaurant and brasserie that features exposed stone walls, leather backed chairs and an intricately carved wooden chandelier, designed to look like antlers, all of which add character to the restaurant. The addition of a bar and terrace area is perfect for spending some time in the fresh air before enjoying a leisurely weekend lunch.
Priding itself on using local ingredients and preparing them to perfection, The Claret Jug’s food matches the surroundings perfectly. Serving wholesome European cuisine with a modern twist, there is something on the menu to suit every taste. We recommend the garlic roast chicken, served with maple cured bacon, plum tomato, red onion salad and ranch sauce. Alternatively, you could try something from the grill-Perhaps, Bavette steeak, a cut from the flank, served with seasoned fries, portabello mushroom & roasted plum tomatoes. Why not finish with a beautiful presented home made dessert like the sticky toffee pudding, served with caramel sauce and ice cream; or the cheesecake of the day with accompanying sauce.
As the only five star hotel in Leeds, Oulton Hall's The Claret Jug offers fine cuisine in stunning surroundings. It's ideal for a relaxing lunch or intimate dinner. The flawless service, exceptional food and beautiful location ensure that every visit is special.
